The Green Society Research Office sent a letter to the Beijing Bureau of China Railway: It is recommended to reasonably dispose of the railway bird nest construction

author:China Green Development Association

On June 7, Volunteers from Hebei of the Green Society reported that they had rescued many chicks along the railway line a few days ago. Volunteers said: "Before, I only knew that the railway department cleaned the bird's nest, but how to clean up and clean up the results has not been very clear, and after recently going to the scene to investigate, I learned that the chicks in the bird's nest were not completely placed." "The railway line reflected by the volunteers is the Shijiazhuang power supply section of China Railway Beijing Bureau Group Co., Ltd. Although the volunteers rescued these found young birds, due to the lack of docking channels and the lack of timely rescue, most of these young birds died after surviving for a long or short period of time. Some of them are magpie nests, and magpies have been included in the "List of Beneficial Terrestrial Wild Animals Protected by the State or of Important Economic and Scientific Research Value", that is, "three haves" protected animals.

At the same time, volunteers found an article published by the Beijing Railway Public Account on June 4: ""Digging a Bird's Nest"? It is a serious thing for them" the article mentioned: "At the beginning of 2021, as of the end of May, the Shijiazhuang power supply section has processed more than 11,000 bird nests, providing a strong guarantee for the safety of railway power supply", and "the railway has been adhering to the principle of 'bird nests don't stay overnight' and disposed of them at the first time.".

How exactly are more than 11,000 bird nests handled? Are the eggs and chicks in the nest properly disposed of? With these questions in mind, on June 11, the Green Society Research Office sent a letter to China Railway Beijing Bureau Group Co., Ltd., suggesting that it entrust professional institutions to assist in the reasonable disposal of wild bird nesting problems, or properly solve the "bird infestation" problem encountered in railway safety by building artificial bird nests or transforming habitats.

The state attaches great importance to the construction of ecological civilization, and clearly puts forward that China's social and economic development should adhere to the harmonious coexistence of man and nature. In line with the concept that human beings should take nature as the root, respect nature, conform to nature and protect nature, I hope that China Railway Beijing Bureau Group Co., Ltd. can seriously understand how to deal with more than 11,000 bird nests, and the Green Society Research Office is willing to communicate with China Railway Beijing Bureau on how to properly dispose of bird nests along the railway, in order to form a reasonable solution, solve the "bird nest" problem, and avoid "bird infestation".
