In one recollection, Albert Einstein discovered a mistake in the theory of relativity that he said was the "greatest mistake" of his scientific career.

Einstein was a German-born theoretical physicist who founded the theory of relativity, which is still used in modern physics today. This hypothesis is divided into two areas – special relativity and general relativity. Special relativity applies to elementary particles and their interactions; general relativity, which explains the law of universal gravitation, applies to the fields of cosmology and astrophysics. The latter, however, forced Einstein to admit that he made a mistake in the years that followed.
Einstein's static model of the universe was a further model he proposed in 1917, and he applied the theory of gravity to the entire universe.
However, Einstein believed that the universe was stationary in time and had an even distribution of matter, and therefore needed a new reaction force against his original theory, the cosmological constant.
Martin Rees, a former professor of cosmology and astrophysics at the University of Cambridge, revealed the origin of the discovery in Radio Four's "Our Time" podcast.
He said in 2013: "In 1917, he (Einstein) tried to apply his theory to the universe. He saw the universe as a closed system, and he realized that he had to add an extra force to his equations for it to work. If he had just followed the 1915 equation, when he thought the universe was stationary, it meant that the universe would collapse. ”
However, a discovery in 1925 left Einstein with regret.
The discovery of American astronomer Edwin Hubble shocked the scientific community, and he proved that there is more in the universe than the Milky Way.
Four years later, Dr. Hubble noticed that light from these distant galaxies moved slightly toward the "red end" of the spectrum, which he called a "redshift."
This suggests that galaxies are moving away from us.
Faced with Dr. Hubble's evidence, Einstein was forced to abandon his idea of cosmic repulsion, calling it the "biggest mistake" he ever made.
However, what Einstein called his biggest mistake later proved to be one of his most impressive discoveries.
Dr Reese explains: "What happened afterwards is very ironic. One of the greatest recent discoveries in cosmology is that distant galaxies are not only moving away from us, but also accelerating their expansion. So there is indeed an extra force that separates the object. ”
"This is actually the same force that Einstein added to his theory for the wrong reasons in 1917."
