Boatman Zheng Pengfei, transported by Shunde Sports School, will represent China at the Tokyo Olympics! On July 6, the rowing team of the Chinese kayak team determined the list of participants in the Tokyo Olympic Games, and Zheng Pengfei was listed.

The reporter learned from the interview that Zheng Pengfei and Shunde have an indissoluble relationship. At the end of 2006, zheng Pengfei, who was only 13 years old, came to Shunde Amateur Sports School (hereinafter referred to as "Shunde Sports School"), where he conducted more than 3 years of special training, and then was selected to be sent to the Guangdong Provincial Team and National Team, from Shunde to the world! It can be said that Shunde is the place where Zheng Pengfei's "rowing dream began".

It is worth noting that Chen Qingchen, an outstanding badminton player trained and transported by Shunde Sports School, will also participate in the Tokyo Olympics. Known as the "cradle of champions", what kind of talent training "code" does Shunde Sports School have? Recently, the reporter interviewed Mao Guobin, Zheng Pengfei's enlightenment coach and principal of Shunde Sports School.

The "dry duck" sets small goals for himself

According to CCTV news, on the afternoon of July 6, the rowing team of the Chinese kayak team determined the list of participants in the Tokyo Olympic Games. Among them, the men's double rowing 1000 meters is participated by Liu Hao and Zheng Pengfei, and Zheng Pengfei will also participate in the single rowing 1000 meters competition.

Zheng Pengfei and Shunde have an indissoluble relationship. It is understood that Zheng Pengfei, who was born in April 1993, is a native of Qiqihar, Heilongjiang. At the end of 2006, Zheng Pengfei came to Shunde Sports School through the introduction of Zhang Dan, the swimming coach of the sports school. When he first came to Shunde, Zheng Pengfei was still a "dry duck" - he could not swim, but the direction of his sport at that time was kayaking, so he was first taught swimming by Coach Zhang Dan, and began special kayaking training in early 2007.

As Zheng Pengfei's enlightenment coach, Mao Guobin was very impressed with him, "At that time, he was not yet 14 years old, and his height was about 1 meter 6. "Although the height conditions are OK, Zheng Pengfei's performance in all aspects of training is not outstanding. But in Mao Guobin's view, Zheng Pengfei's personality is very prominent, "once he has firmly established the direction of struggle, he will always insist." For this tenacity on Zheng Pengfei's body, Mao Guobin is very appreciative.

From the northeast to Lingnan, the first thing to pass is the "weather pass", just came to Shunde, the humid heat of Lingnan at first made Zheng Pengfei not very adaptable. "But he was a hard-working kid." Mao Guobin commented on him. "Learning kayaking is not an easy task, it is easy to overturn the boat at the beginning, Zheng Pengfei is adhering to the determination to learn and learn well, each stage has a small goal, and constantly achieve, his comprehension ability is relatively strong, training is also particularly hard." Mao Guobin said.

Use the Enlightenment Coach as a role model

It is understood that kayaks are divided into kayaks and rowing boats, the two kinds of boats have the same competition venue, competition distance, competition rules and refereeing methods, but the boat shape structure, the shape of the paddle, the oar posture of the athletes, the oar holding method and the technical action are completely different. "It's an easy sport to learn, and rowing is a little harder than that." Mao Guobin told reporters.

"Every kayaker comes across a choice at the beginning, kayak or rower?" Mao Guobin recalled, "When making a choice, Zheng Pengfei first asked me, coach, which project do you plan? I said it was rowing, so he said he was going to learn to row. Perhaps, Zheng Pengfei, who was still a child at that time, did not know much about the specific difference between kayaking and rowing, but in his heart, the enlightenment coach Mao Guobin has always been an example for him to learn.

In fact, Mao Guobin was a kayaker in China in the early 1980s. In 1990, after retiring from the military at the age of 24, Mao Guobin came to Shunde Sports School as a kayaking project coach, and is now a senior coach of kayaking projects and the principal of Shunde Sports School, who has participated in and witnessed the development of China's kayaking projects since the reform and opening up.

From 2007 to 2009, after special training and training in Shunde Sports School, Zheng Pengfei's various training data have been significantly improved, and his running ability and special ability have also been gradually enhanced. At the end of 2009, Zheng Pengfei was selected by Shunde Sports School to be sent to the Guangdong Provincial Rowing Team for training, and at the end of 2010, he became the official athlete of the provincial team, "From the training to the official athlete, it took only a short year, after hard training, Zheng Pengfei stood out among his peers." Mao Guobin said proudly.

Zheng Pengfei also encountered setbacks and bottlenecks. "There was a time when someone wanted him to change the direction of the project, and he also asked for my opinion." Mao Guobin recalled, "After a period of thinking, he decided to take the road of rowing, step by step, and persisted until now. ”

At the 2014 Incheon Asian Games, Zheng Pengfei was runner-up in the men's double rowing 1,000m, and then he finished fifth in the men's single rowing 5,000m event at the World Championships. In 2015, he was awarded the title of "International Athlete" for the kayaking still water project. In other words, from "a blank piece of paper" to the highest level of athletes, Zheng Pengfei only took 7 years. After being transported to the provincial team and the national team, Zheng Pengfei will also return to shunde sports school from time to time to guide the teachers and sisters, impart training experience, and also keep in touch with the enlightenment coach Mao Guobin.

The "code" for talent training in the "cradle of champions" in sports

As a participant and witness of China's kayaking sport, Mao Guobin said that China's kayaking began in the 1950s, carried out national events in the mid-to-late 1970s, and continued to develop; in the 2004 Athens Olympic Games, China's kayaking made a historic breakthrough (won the Olympic men's double rowing 500 meters gold medal), and then China's achievements in the kayaking project climbed steadily, "Kayaking has always been considered a strength of Europe and the United States, but since the Athens Olympic Games, The development of China's kayaking project has gradually shown a trend from catching up to following and leading. ”

In Mao Guobin's view, as the hometown of dragon boats in the country and the water town of Lingnan, Shunde has unique conditions for the development of kayaking. According to its introduction, since the 1970s, Shunde has sent nearly 50 professional and outstanding rowing and kayakers to the Guangdong Provincial Team and the Bayi Team.

Shunde Sports School is known as the "cradle of champions" and has cultivated a number of world champions. At this year's Tokyo Olympic Games, in addition to Zheng Pengfei, the badminton project Chen Qingchen was also cultivated and transported by shunde sports school. It is reported that Shunde Sports School has sent nearly 500 professional outstanding athletes to the state, provinces, cities and troops. In 2013 and 2016, it was awarded the honorary title of "National High-level Sports Reserve Talent Base" by the State General Administration of Sports.

As a grassroots amateur sports school, why can Shunde Sports School attract and cultivate many excellent sports seedlings?

Mao Guobin said that a very important reason is that there is a strong coaching team. "Most of our coaches are retired outstanding athletes, but there are also coaches who are trained from Shunde Sports School to the provincial team and return to the school to teach after the national team retires." He said that Shunde Sports School actively explores the road of integration of sports and education, and forms a benign talent training mechanism to help the high-quality development of Shunde's sports industry.
