In a recent interview with Galaxy Digital CEO Mike Novogratz, billionaire mark Cuban, a star guest investor in the TV talk show Shark Tank, shared his views on judging outstanding crypto projects.

Cuban believes that the current state of the crypto market is reminiscent of the Internet in 1995.

"What was then a shift from analog to digital is now a shift from digital to distributed, decentralized and secure. The way people look at the web, whether it's streaming protocols, or JavaScript, as a platform that transitions business to digital-based business, we see smart contracts with the same opportunities.

We're seeing a lot of craze for competition from different blockchains. But as in the [past], it comes down to applications, semantics, and integration, so when companies start applying smart contracts at work, we'll start to see things really level off. ”

Cuban went on to say that the best practical use cases for decentralized applications (DAPS) and irreplaceable tokens (NFTs) have emerged in the crypto space. While NFT as a digital collectible is a proof of concept, he believes that commercial applications will unlock the true value of smart contracts and NFT technology.

"It's hard to distinguish a signal from noise. But I totally agree with you that it comes down to practicality. When people create applications, the first thing to consider is who is using them and how are they used?

It should be said that we have not yet seen a gold rush for commercial applications. The nft is great as a collectible, it's fun and entertaining, but it's just a proof of concept. For insurance apps, medical apps, textbooks, and anything else you can think of, with or without nFT, smart contracts are the holy grail. ”

Cuban is also concerned that certain crypto models, such as the currently popular p2e model, could become a very good way to fundraise for charity.

"The play to earn model in the crypto space has the potential to become a philanthropic model because you can find ways to get people engaged. Self-support is no longer necessary, you can create a complete ecosystem and economic system that brings in third-party revenue because there are so many participants.

You can sell ads, you can sell a lot of things, and those things in turn can support the people who are involved in the event to earn income. ”

Born in Pittsburgh in 1958, Mark Cuban completed four years of work-study at Indiana University in his early years. After graduating from college, Cuban worked briefly at Mellon Bank and computer sales companies, starting microsolutions and broadcast.com, which sold yahoo, the largest online service company at the time, for $5.7 billion at the height of the Internet boom in 1999.

In January 2000, Cuban bought the NBA Dallas Mavericks for $285 million, transforming the team's culture and lineup with his signature passion and tenacity. The Mavericks returned to the playoffs more than a decade later in 2001, finally winning the NBA championship in 2011.

For example, he believes that Bitcoin is better than gold, which can be called "Gold 2.0". He is a supporter of Dogecoin. In March, his Dallas Mavericks could buy tickets and licensed merchandise with Dogecoin and Bitcoin. In addition, Cuban has invested in a number of blockchain-related projects this year, including Aave, Sushi, Matic, and NFT trading platforms Superrare and Mintable.
