（一）分類
英語中的冠詞主要是用來修飾名詞或形容詞的，分為三類，即：不定冠詞（a/an）、定冠詞（the）和零冠詞（不用冠詞）。其中，an一般用于以元音開頭的單詞前。
（二）基本用法
1、單數可數名詞，一般用不定冠詞或定冠詞修飾。如：
She ordered a hamburger without onions.
Did you drink the coke I just ordered?
2、複數可數名詞，一般用定冠詞或零冠詞修飾。如：
Do you like reading grammar rules?
Do you like reading the grammar rules on this page?
3、不可數名詞，一般用定冠詞或零冠詞修飾。如：
Have you studied the history of South Africa?
History reminds us that events repeat themselves.
（三）the的用法
1、用于形容詞前，表一類人或物，如：
| the elderly | the disabled | the unemployed |
| the rich | the sick | the needy |
2、用于完整國名前，但其簡稱前一般用零冠詞，如：
| The United States | The People's Republic of China | The Republic of France |
| America | China | France |
3、城市街道名前一般用零冠詞，如：
| Chicago | Fifth Avenue | San Francisco |
4、江河湖海山川島嶼名前多用定冠詞，如：
the Amazon the Atlantic the Hawaiian Islands the Bahamas
5、基數詞前一般用零冠詞，序數詞一般用定冠詞，如：
World War Two the Second World War
6、帶名字的頭銜前用零冠詞，不帶of的學校名稱前用零冠詞，如：
President Mitchael The president
7、帶of的學校名稱前用定冠詞，不帶名字的頭銜前用定冠詞，如：
The University of Arizona Lincoln High
8、獨立無二的事物前用定冠詞，如：
the sun the moon
9、當表整體中的一部分時，其表整體的部分前要定冠詞，如：
one of students none of the students
10、最進階前多要定冠詞，但副詞的最進階前的定冠詞可用可不用，如：
He is the best students in his class.
He runs (the) fastest in his class.
