All-terrain crossover with augmented reality display device The Audi CTIVESPHERE concept debuted

On January 27, the all-new Audi activesphere concept car was officially unveiled. The new car is a four-door crossover coupe that can drive off-road, on mountains and snow, and is also the fourth model in the Audisphere family. In addition to the latest crossover style design, the interior uses augmented reality (AR) technology and high-tech head-mounted displays to show real environments and routes, as well as real-time 3D content and interactive elements. In addition, the new car is equipped with 800-volt fast charging technology and has a cruising range of more than 600km.

The Audi activesphere concept is based on the PPE all-electric platform and for the first time combines the design elements of the Audi allroad wagon with the hatchback styling of the Audi Sportback coupe. Officials also call this new body style "active sportback", which can be more directly distinguished by positioning and vision.

The front of the Audi activesphere concept adopts the iconic closed design of pure electric vehicles and continues the classic hexagonal grille, but the difference is that a transparent glass is used in the middle instead of the traditional grille. At the same time, the concept car also uses a lot of glass, not only the roof and rear glass, but also the side under the doors. When the vehicle enters off-road mode, the natural world can be integrated through glass and interior space.

The lights have always been the hallmark of Audi, and the Activesphere concept is equipped with a very narrow headlight cluster, and the internal lighting unit is intertwined with the four-ring brand logo, which is officially called the "Audi Eye". In fact, this design was first applied to the Audi grandsphere concept, but the Audi activesphere concept car has a pair of variable "Audi eyes" that will present different lighting effects in road and off-road driving modes.

The side of the body adopts a design with relatively short front and rear overhangs, which visually makes the body more compact and dynamic. The length, width and height of the body are 4980mm/2070mm/1600mm, and the wheelbase reaches 2970mm. In terms of details, the front surround and the underside exit have a similar serration-like design, which unfolds as the vehicle rises after the vehicle is converted to off-road mode.

It is worth mentioning that the new car is equipped with large 22-inch wheels and has a maximum ground clearance of 248mm, while some parts of the wheel hub also have a variable design, when the off-road mode is enabled, the parts open for optimal ventilation; In road mode, the components are turned off for optimal aerodynamic settings.

The rear design not only follows the shape of the Audi Sportback, but also makes the rear end flexible while maintaining elegance and sportiness.

When more space is needed, the rear glass slides and the rear becomes a spacious open cargo compartment that can accommodate sports equipment such as e-bikes, while the power dividers at the rear of the seats separate the cockpit from the luggage compartment. In addition, the roof of the Audi activesphere can be adapted to ski racks and has a hidden design, while it can be extended as needed to secure the skis to the roof.

In terms of interior, the interior of the Audi activesphere concept car adopts a red + black color scheme, and pays attention to the creation of a freer and more natural living space. First of all, in the way of opening the door, the new car adopts the method of opening the door, and the scene inside the car is unobstructed. Since the car has Level 4 autonomous driving capability, the steering wheel and instrument panel can be folded and hidden in the front row and unfolded when the owner needs it.

The interior also adopts a "2+2" four-seat layout, with a tall through-through center console in the middle, on which passengers can rest their elbows for a more comfortable riding position. Underneath, there is a storage space and an in-car bar with refrigeration and heating functions. The transparent surface allows for an unobstructed view of bottles and glasses, and also allows the bulky center console to visually integrate into the entire interior space.

In all operating modes in the car, the MMI sensor control on the door can be operated through eye tracking and gesture control to realize functions such as window control and seat adjustment.

It is worth mentioning that the new car has a console of comparable size facing the center console on the roof, and is equipped with 4 AR head-mounted displays. Innovative AR headsets combine virtual and real for individual use by each driver and passenger. For example, this technology can project map navigation, musical entertainment to passengers or drivers in AR headsets, and passengers can search for addresses and songs through gestures, head movements, and even glasses, and AR headsets can capture regardless of the passenger's posture. Therefore, there is no need for screens or physical buttons in the concept car, customers only need to project real objects, and the virtual operation screen will appear in the headset.

In addition, AR headsets can also connect users and vehicles, complemented by ecosystems. For example, users can check the maintenance location and time on their computer or phone, and the information will be automatically synchronized to the headset after getting on the car. In the future, passengers can also take the headset out of the car and take it to the ski run, use it to navigate the bike path, or use it on the ski.

Thanks to the standards and advantages of the PPE platform, the Audi activesphere concept uses dual front and rear motors, of which the maximum power of the system is 325kW and the peak torque can reach 720Nm. It is also equipped with a 100kWh battery pack, which has a cruising range of more than 600km, and supports 800-volt charging technology, and the maximum charging power can reach 270kW, which only takes 10 minutes, which is enough to add more than 300km of range to the vehicle. In addition, the new car adopts a five-link structure connection and is equipped with an adaptive air suspension system.
