Atu's gengzhi friend - the yellow fox ant

Yellow ants are the stars of ants. They live in the tropics and have a translucent amber color. Their eyes are bright and full of aura, which earns them a lot of impression points. They have fine hairs all over their bodies and look very shiny, but they are almost invisible to the human eye.

Strange nest weaving skills

The yellow fox ant is a social insect. They have social characteristics such as mutual cooperation, hierarchical differentiation, and individual altruistic behavior. They are omnivores, mainly carnivorous, and many insects are their prey objects. A colony of yellow ants may have several nests, numbering up to tens of thousands. Each colony has queens and males who specialize in breeding offspring, as well as hard-working worker ants.

Yellow ants are adept at weaving nests in trees. They form a cooperative relationship with some trees, that is, trees provide them with a place to live, and they hunt pests for trees. Their nest weaving process is very characteristic, generally nesting in the canopy facing the sun. After choosing a nesting site, the yellow ant stretches its body on the branches or leaves, and then shrinks its body to tighten the branches. If the spacing between the branches and leaves is too large, they connect up and down to form an "ant bridge" that brings the adjacent branches and leaves closer. Other yellow ants contain larvae in their mouths, allowing them to spit silk between the leaves to bond, eventually forming nests. Their nests are generally spherical in shape, up to half a meter in diameter. In the process of weaving the nest, they are as orderly as other ants, and some people think that this ability is an instinct, and others think that they play a role in pheromones between each other. I had followed a group of yellow ants in a Dai village, and I followed their procession through the courtyard walls of one house after another, nearly a hundred meters long, and finally saw another nest they were weaving on another tree, which really stunned me.

Persistent and stoic character

Yellow ants are extremely aggressive. They move forward in the face of threats and do not flinch at all. I've been bitten by them as many times in the rainforest as I've been bitten by ants, but I've been very impressed by the yellow ants. They bit me with their jaws, and once, my nose hurt so much that I couldn't jump, I couldn't beat, and I couldn't see, thinking that I was invaded by some monster, and I grabbed it with my hands for half a day, only to find that it was a yellow ant, and then, several parts of my body hurt, and they launched a swarm attack. It turned out that I was standing on the route they were walking.

The stoicism of the yellow ant is admirable. One morning, I crossed a path and saw a picture on a banyan tree leaf: a yellow fox ant somehow found a food that looked like a spider's egg bag, which was more than 20 times the size of the yellow fox ant and weighed nearly 30 times its weight. It hangs from the drooping tip of the leaf and pulls the falling egg bag up, lifting it up, but the egg bag is held by the leaf tip. It hung like this for about 20 minutes, and no companion arrived. I wanted to help but couldn't, worried that if I moved slightly, I might give up, and finally I could only quietly walk away.
