November 6 (Straits Herald reporter Lai Yahong text/photo) "So terrible! So many red ants! On November 4, some netizens reported to the Straits Herald's WeChat public account in Dazhangzhou that suspected red ants were seen on the railing of the Rainbow Bridge in Zhangzhou City, and flocks climbed on the bridge railing.
The video sent by netizens shows that an ant that only looks red on the railing of the Rainbow Bridge is crawling, and the netizens are shooting while calling is terrible.
On the morning of November 5, the Herald reporter walked around the Rainbow Bridge in the city, and on the right side of the Nanshan Bridge, near the Rainbow Bridge near the river, he saw a few ants crawling on the railing of the bridge, but there were not many.
Subsequently, the Herald reporter reflected the situation to Chen Jinghui, director of the Zhangzhou Plant Protection Station, and after Chen Jinghui looked at the ants on the spot, it was determined that the ants were not red fire ants (commonly known as red ants), but yellow fox ants.
"The yellow ant is a beneficial insect, although it is aggressive, but it mainly eats insects and does not actively attack people." Chen Jinghui said that in ancient times, yellow fox ants were used to help catch pests. It is the same as ordinary ants, such as black ants, even if accidentally bitten, it will not be toxic, unlike the poisonous needles in the tail of the red fire ant, please do not panic.
