After the Duke of Haixi was deposed, the empress dowager issued an edict for Sima Yu( sima Yu, the prince of Huiji, to succeed Tianzi. Sima Yu was the younger son of Sima Rui, the Emperor of Jin yuan, because he was "vain and widowed" and "you shan Xuan tan", so he survived successive coups and remained in a high position. Constant Temperature was a little afraid of him because his temperament was difficult to guess. Once, Constant Temperature accompanied him and Sima Xi, the king of Wuling, to travel to banqiao, deliberately ordering people to beat war drums, blow trumpets, and chariots galloping back and forth, hoping to observe the actions of the two of them. Sima Xi was frightened and fidgeted, and begged the constant temperature to let him get out of the car immediately, but Sima Yu looked at ease and had no fear. Thermostat was therefore jealous and admired him.
In November of the first year of Xian'an (371 AD), Sima Yu, the emperor, took the throne as Emperor Wen of Jin. Constant Temperature sent his own cronies to defend the palace with heavy troops, and asked sima Xi to abolish sima xi, the king of Wuling. Sima Xi was forced to launch a coup d'état and was arrested and imprisoned by Constant Temperature, and Emperor Jianwen could only shed tears at Constant Temperature. Constant Temperature Asked Sima Xi to be killed, Emperor JianWen did not allow it, Constant Temperature repeatedly went to the table, Emperor Jian Wen personally wrote an edict replying: "If the fortunes of my Jin Room are still spiritual and long, trouble you."
