Tang Xuefeng, deputy director of the Sichuan Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, introduced that the first case reported by Chengdu in this round of epidemic has a history of travel in many places in the northwest, overlapping with the clear trajectory of the local confirmed case, and after epidemiological investigation and laboratory gene sequencing, it is still caused by the delta new coronavirus variant strain, and the virus strain of the northwest epidemic is the same source. Due to the stronger spread of the delta strain, there have been special cases of 1 passing 13 in this outbreak.

It is understood that the first cases and early recurrence cases of this round of the epidemic are mostly young people, with a wide range of activities and many contacts, in addition to participating in official activities, they also involve bars, restaurants, gyms and other places, which is easy to cause the spread of the epidemic. Up to now, Chengdu has reported 23 cases, showing a strong contagiousness, with the same family, the same unit, the same catering and entertainment places clustered and sick and other characteristics.
Tang Xuefeng said that in the face of the complex and severe epidemic situation, various professional teams are working day and night to carry out flow traceability, place sealing and control and nucleic acid testing, fighting with the virus and grabbing time with the epidemic. However, due to the large range of activities and wide exposure of early cases, and the low CT value of most cases (meaning high viral load), the risk of transmission is large, and the possibility of new cases in the future is not excluded.
