Gong Gonggong is also a Gong Gong, an ancient Chinese mythological figure and the god of the flood. Legend has it that the CCP workers have a fierce image, a snake-faced body and red hair, a stupid and fierce temperament, and are ambitious, and they are long-term rivals of the Yellow Emperor clan. It is said that Gonggong's surname is Jiang, and he is a descendant of Emperor Yan.[1] Myths and legends about him are almost all related to water, and the most famous story is that gonggong anger cannot touch the mountain. It is said that the area of activity of the Gonggong tribe is in present-day Hui County, Henan. He invented the method of building dikes to store water.

The co-workers launched a flood

The Huainan Zi Benjing records that at the time of the Emperor Shun, the previously dead co-workers reappeared, "vibrating the flood, with thin empty mulberry", which brought a great disaster to the primitive people. In order to eliminate the root cause of the water damage, Yu, the tribal leader in charge of water control, led the members of the Yellow Emperor clan to start a fierce battle with the gonggong, and the "Shan Hai Jing and the Great Wild West Classic" mentions that "There is Yu attacking the Gonggongguo Mountain", which is likely to be related to this great war. In the "Xunzi Chengxiang Chapter", it is said: "Yu has merit, suppresses the hong, and eliminates harm for the people and works together", which further confirms the myth and legend of the common work of the common work to launch the flood and Yu to work together. The Huainan Zi records: "In the past, gonggong and huan were vying for the emperor, angry and untouchable mountains, the pillars of heaven were broken, and the earth was destroyed." The sky tilts to the northwest, so the sun, moon, and stars move; the earth is not satisfied with the southeast, so the water and dust return."

In the end, Gonggong was defeated and exiled to Gongcheng (Gongcheng) in Youzhou. Therefore, the Shang Shu Shun Dian says: "The stream works together in Youzhou, lets the donkeys go to the lofty mountains, channels the three seedlings in the three dangers, and kills the carp in the Feather Mountain, and the four sins are salty and the world is salty." The Chronicle of The Lands also says, "The old Gongcheng is in the border of Yanle County, Tanzhou, so the old legend of Yun Shunliu co-working in Youzhou lives in this city." Gu Yanwu of the Qing Dynasty wrote in his "Records of Changping Landscape and Water", "His city is still there, also known as Gongcheng, fifty miles northeast of Miyun County."

The minister of co-workers is Xiang Liu

Legend has it that a Hydra-like monster named XiangLiu[2] was a courtier of the Co-Workers. It is greedy and insatiable, and the places it passes through will become swamps, and the water in these swamps will be either spicy or bitter, becoming a wasteland where humans and animals cannot survive. Yu, while controlling the flood and expelling the co-workers, also killed Xiang Liu, and as a result, Xiang Liu's bloody smell was incomparable, and the land stained by it did not produce grain and was low-lying and wet; Yu filled these lands with soil, filling it three times and collapsing three times. In the end, Yu could only use this land as a pond and build altars for the Heavenly Emperors to suppress the demons.

Water God

After Gonggong's death, he was revered as a water master (the god of water conservancy), and his son Houtu was also worshipped as the god of society (i.e., the god of land). Although the co-workers were brutal and evil, he was always feared by the people because of his divine power and his close connection with the lives of the people. The Classic of Mountains and Seas records that "the platform of common work, the shooter does not dare to go north (xiang)", which expresses this primitive reverence.
