Lee Wong Island, in Indonesia's Bangka Belitung province, was once a deserted island. With the arrival of a Chinese, the corals in the sea around the desert island gradually come back to life, the area of mangroves gradually expands, the shrimp and crabs continue to increase, and the sea becomes clear... Environmental protection has brought this deserted indonesian island back to life.

Originally from China's Guangdong Province, Li Ka-man in his early forties came to Indonesia more than a decade ago and accidentally became the "island owner" and became known as Liwang Island. At the beginning of the development of Liwang Island, Li Jiawen adopted a development model that combined ecological protection and tourism development. Li Ka Man led the local people to learn tourism knowledge, but also worked hard to cultivate their concept of ecological protection. Considering the weak ecological carrying capacity of the island, Liwang Island strictly limits the number of tourists received every day, and specially explains ecological knowledge to tourists on the island and disseminates the concept of environmental protection. Liwangdao's model of protecting the ecology and driving economic development has been recognized by local people, governments and environmental organizations.

Lutfi Avian, head of the Environmental Protection Bureau of Belitung County, to which the island belongs, praised Li Ka-man's work on coral, mangrove protection and marine life cultivation, and agreed with his concept of environmental development. Photo by Xinhua News Agency reporter Du Yu
