Zhang Wuchang is known as "the most famous economist in the Chinese world" and has repeatedly participated in the discussion of China's economic reform, prescribing medicine for the mainland's reform and opening up. Born in Hong Kong, China, he encountered the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in his childhood, took refuge with his mother in Guangxi, and as an adult, he studied in Canada and the United States, obtained a doctorate, taught at the University of Chicago, the University of Washington and other world-famous universities, and served as a professor at the University of Washington. He returned to the University of Hong Kong in the 1980s as Dean and Chair Professor of the School of Economics and Finance at the University of Hong Kong.
