First of all, this winery that has been established for 20 years, called Oldman Winery, was founded in 2001 by Mr. Xu Yi, a national first-class wine taster, and his friend Mr. Dong Xingshui; Mr. Xu Yi graduated from the School of Wine of Northwest A&F University, and when he was young, he was determined to create a Chinese national winery brand that brewed world-class wine. After in-depth study of the geographical and climatic conditions of Northwest Lu, Xu Yi believes that Dezhou is in the golden wine planting belt of 37 ° north latitude, and has a good sandy loam soil in the Yellow River area, and has always had a history of grape cultivation, so it is possible to grow and brew world-class good wines in Texas. So rooted in the soil, after twenty years, this is a kind of respect for wine, but also a kind of tempering of life.
From the name of the winery, we can also see that Mr. Xu Yi's tenacity and perseverance. The name of the winery "Oldman" is a transliteration of the English "old man", meaning "old man or mature man", which is called "qi" in ancient Chinese. The name of this winery is derived from a cultural figure in the history of the Yellow River, named Lu Jianzeng, who was a literary collector or a winemaker. In 1765, the Qianlong Emperor went down to Jiangnan to pass through Dezhou and summoned Lu Jianzeng, who because he had offered grilled chicken and home-brewed wine to the emperor, Qianlong Longyan was very happy, and gave Lu Mian a plaque with the inscription "Deshui Qiying", which means "Qi" for the old man. Therefore, although the Oldman winery was built in modern times, it also has a deep regional history and cultural heritage.
After 20 years of development and precipitation, Today's Oldman Winery has become the only winery in northwest Lu that integrates grape planting, winemaking, tourism and cultural dissemination.
