<b>A</b> new poster for the new film misbehaviour, starring British actresses Kayla Knightley (Pirates of the Caribbean), Gugu Mbata-Lau ("Belle") and Jesse Buckley ("Wild Rose"), has released a new poster focusing on the big events that changed the aesthetics of the Western world in the 1970 Miss World contest.
The film is set in London in 1970, when the Miss World contest was the world's most watched television show with over 100 million viewers. The newly formed Women's Liberation Movement claimed that beauty contests demeaned women, making overnight fame by hacking into the stage and disrupting the live broadcast of the matches. Not only that, but as the show went on, the result caused an uproar: the winner was not the beloved Swede, but Miss Grenada Jennifer Houstan, the first black woman to win the Miss World laureate. In just a few hours, audiences around the world have witnessed patriarchy being banished from the stage and Western aesthetic ideals completely reversed.
Directed by female director Felipe Lothope (The Crown, Three Girls), the film will be released in the UK on 13 March 2020.
