Hong Kong movie recommendation: "Across the Sea" wishes you a spring dream without a trace

author:Xiao Rou movie commentary

This is an extremely entertaining film, although it is directed by Wu Yusen, it is different from his other masculine works, full of romantic tenderness.

It depicts Ah Hai and Ah Zhan, two good brothers who have been stealing famous paintings since childhood, a love triangle with Hongdou Mei, and a grudge between the two brothers and their adoptive father.

So far, this film has been in the Douban Movie TOP250 list, and this film still occupies the 162nd place, which is the most popular work of director Wu Yusen.

But in fact, this film is not a unified and complete style work. If you look at it with too many expectations, you will be confused: why in the second half, the film suddenly turns direction, the comedy is getting heavier and heavier, and even a little absurd and nonsensical?

Released in Hong Kong on February 2, 1991, the film tells the story of YaHai (Bowl Cake) (Chow Yun Fat), Ya Zhan (Cheung Kwok Wing) and Hongdou (Zhong Chuhong) who steal a famous painting, and then the three are separated and reunited due to being chased by a trap.

The film begins with the Seine, planted with plane trees on both sides. Behind the woods, there is a solemn complex of buildings. The large and small royal palaces on the north bank of the river, the university district on the south bank of the river, the Eiffel Tower on the west side of the river, and Notre Dame Cathedral on the city island in the eastern part of the river. The film begins with a relaxed and cheerful feel

The next step is the "work" to steal the painting, the three people cooperate, and the operation is smooth.

Drifting for a long time, enjoying a comfortable life, at a certain time they want to retire and go into hiding, and the thieves also want to wash their hands of the golden basin after the last vote and return to the countryside. (It's said how many bad guys had an accident before the golden basin washed their hands...) )

As he spoke, he began to steal the last one

A classic passage of Fa Ge: Loving a person does not have to be her to follow you all her life, I love a flower, I don't have to pick it, I love the wind, do I call the wind to stop, let me smell it, I love the clouds, is it called the clouds to float down and hug me

What Fa Ge said related to the situation he was in had a certain truth: Ah Hai and Ah Zhan both knew that the other party liked red beans, and both sides were persuading each other to take a shot, fa Ge had always behaved that Lang Lang did not care, in fact, he was thinking of himself as a big brother, to give the red beans to Ah Zhan. Or maybe they feel that they like to wander and can't give Hongdou happiness.

Then there is the classic Hong Kong film shootout, and it is like a little mago and Ajay, except for Ahao.

Ah Hai even faked death to protect Ah Zhan from driving into the sea.

A few years later, the bowl cake that was supposed to be dead reappeared. It turned out that he was not dead, but disabled and needed to be in a wheelchair. Over the years, Bowl Cake has been living with the policeman's father. And the adoptive father saw that the bowl cake was useless, so he abandoned him.

When the two old friends reunited, they had nothing to say, only two eyes facing each other. When Ah Hai re-saw Hongdou, who was about to become a human wife, he only had heartbreak and blessings in his heart, not to mention that Hongdou came to him only to ask him to help Ah Zhan; or because he was already a human wife, he deliberately showed a sense of distance.

Eventually, the three young men fight with their adoptive father in order to get rid of their adoptive father's control. Interestingly, the bowl cake was not crippled, and from the moment he returned to see his adoptive father, he had premeditated revenge. Crippling is just a means for him to deceive his opponents.

In the end, the thief's adoptive father was brought to justice by the police, and the three of them washed their hands and hid their names.

This is an atypical Work by Wu Yusen. Wu Yusen, who is known for his violent aesthetics, does not render violence in this film. There is not much blood seen throughout the film, which can be said to be amazing. The style of the film is relaxed and romantic, and even adds funny bridges to the decisive battle.

Compared with the bitter and vengeful gangster films such as "Blood Street" and "Hero Nature", "Across the Sea" is rarely relaxed.

Because of this ease, Wu Yusen inadvertently left the best Zhou Runfa, Zhang Guorong, and Zhong Chuhong. The three of them are frozen in this movie. "Across the Seas" is the most romantic Hong Kong movie in my heart. Romance is the whimsical ideas that run through the film, the beauty of the beauty, and those delicate careful thoughts. Wu Yusen, as a pure steel straight man, shoots elegant and emotional, and he can't imagine that he looks so good.
