The Modern Express reporter learned that this is the first university campus in China named after "future", and it is also the first campus in the Yangtze River Delta ecological green integrated development demonstration zone.
Soochow University Future Campus is located in Suzhou Wujiang District Taihu New Town Plate, east of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, north of the Resort Ecological Park, the campus planning total area of 1,000 acres, planning to build a school building of 400,000 square meters, the planned undergraduate scale of not less than 6,000 people. The campus is a major project to deepen the comprehensive cooperation between Soochow University and Wujiang, the first university campus in China named after "future", and the first campus in the Yangtze River Delta Ecological Green Integrated Development Demonstration Zone.
In December 2018, Soochow University and the People's Government of Wujiang District signed the "Comprehensive Cooperation Agreement on Jointly Building the Future Campus of Soochow University". The People's Government of Wujiang District is responsible for completing the infrastructure construction and hard installation project of the future campus, implementing the "turnkey" project, and after the completion of the project, it will be operated and managed by Soochow University. The campus adopts the method of "one-time planning and phased construction", with reference to the construction of international university campus standards.
The first phase of the future campus will be launched with the first phase of the teacher and student apartments and the comprehensive building, which integrates teaching, scientific research, office, conference, accommodation, catering and other functions into one, and will serve as the international conference center of the future campus. The construction land area of the first phase of the campus is about 216 mu, with a construction area of 114,000 square meters, and it is planned to be completed and put into use in September 2022.
At the launching ceremony, the unveiling ceremony of the School-Enterprise Research Institute stationed in the future campus was also held. Soochow University and Hengtong Group, Huichuan Technology, Langkai Medical, Maji Electronics, Tumao Intelligence and other companies to carry out comprehensive cooperation, the two sides jointly built the Future Information and Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, the Future Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute, the Intelligent Medical Equipment Research Institute, the Behavioral Digital Intelligent Football Research Institute, the Magnetic Chip Intelligent Manufacturing Research Institute, the Intelligent Manufacturing Industry Technology Innovation Center, the Intelligent Precision Manufacturing Industry Technology Innovation Center, the Ultra-precision Detection System Industry Technology Innovation Center and other 8 school-enterprise research institutions first settled in the future campus.
The Future Campus of SUSU closely follows the goal positioning of "research-oriented, international, cutting-edge, high-quality and digital", and the Future Science and Engineering College set up in the first phase of the layout focuses on the fields of digital and artificial intelligence, information and intelligent systems, with statistics as the academic foundation and artificial intelligence and intelligent manufacturing as the core, to build a cross-innovation platform that connects new engineering disciplines. This year, the four majors of Artificial Intelligence, Integrated Circuit Design and Integrated Systems, Statistics, and Mechatronic Engineering in the School of Science and Engineering in the Future Science and Engineering have welcomed 319 new undergraduate students of the class of 2021, and students will enter the Future Campus next year after completing the first-year study at the Yangcheng Lake Campus. In 2022, the future campus will also add two majors of robot engineering, data science and big data technology, and it is expected that about 1,000 students will be settled in September 2022.
