The original title of "Funny Family" was "Unstoppable High Kick", but for Chinese audiences, the Chinese translation of "Funny Family" is more familiar. It is a 167-episode comedy drama series broadcast by South Korean MBC Television in 2006, which tells the funny daily life of the Lee Soon-chae family who live in Seoul's Black Stone Cave. It is commendable that most of the names of the characters in this drama are the real names of the actors, and at most they have changed their surnames, which is rare in today's TV series. In the play, the stingy and authoritarian grandfather Li Shuncai, the seemingly loyal but somewhat dark grandmother Luo Wenji, the handsome long-legged Oba Li Minyong, the fart-loving big stomach king Li Junhe, the secret teacher Li Yunhao, etc., have brought countless joys to everyone.
However, to say that the most memorable role in this drama is the teacher Xu Minjing, who is confused in small things, but is very clear in the face of big things. This is because she brings us the most joy, but she also makes us feel the most heartache. Xu Minjing's imperfect ending also made "Funny Family" one of the very few TV series that I wanted to send blades to the screenwriter.
In the play, Xu Minjing, Li Minyong, Shen Zhi, and Li Yunhao can be said to bear most of the emotional drama, while Xu Minjing has inseparable relations with the other three people. The emotional drama between her and Li Minyong is undoubtedly the heaviest of all the emotional dramas in the play, but it is also the most grumpy. Because of working in the same school, coupled with the relationship between Shen Zhi, Xu Minjing and Li Minyong gradually became acquainted, and in continuous contact, fell in love with Li Minyong, who was divorced and had a baby.
The various rivalry scenes between Xu Minjing and Li Minyong are also the funniest ones that I think are the funniest. From Min Jing singing "Get Rid of Constipation Song" being seen by Min Yong, to Min Jing fantasizing about what Min Yong will do to him, to Min Yong calling Min Jing a "venting resident", most of the plot can make the audience laugh and cry. But this relationship is the most difficult to let go, after all, the screenwriter sprinkled more than 160 episodes of dog food for us, but in the last few episodes, it suddenly changed the style, making the audience scream that they couldn't stand it.
At the end of the play, Shin Ji has a car accident, and Min Yong chooses to break up with Min Jing in order to take care of her. At that time, I was really sad about this teacher Xu who brought us more than 160 episodes of joy, she was so innocent and kind, so cute and pure, but the screenwriter walked up the "dark style" at this moment, which was really difficult to accept. When Min Jing saw Min Yong coming to say goodbye to herself and shed tears outside the classroom window, my tears really flowed down.
For the role of Shen Zhi, in fact, from the heart, I don't like it very much. The breakdown of the marriage between her and Min Yong was entirely a decision made on her own impulse. After that, this role began to go farther and farther on the road of "doing", until finally because of her injury, it led to the breakup of Xu Minjing and Li Minyong. What's even more infuriating is that after the two broke up, Shen Zhi actually did not fully accept Min Yong, at this time, I was really a little distressed and quiet. I agree with a netizen's comment on Shen Zhi and Min Jing: Shen Zhi is the kind of person who understands big things in small things, while Min Jing is the opposite, she belongs to the kind of people who are confused about small things but understand very well in the face of big things.
The relationship between Xu Minjing and Li Yunhao is another major highlight of the play, but unlike the feelings between Min Yong and Min Jing, Yoon Hao's love is extremely reclusive, all because he is Min Jing's student. From the very beginning of frequent teasing Min Jing, to Min Jing being bullied and beaten by other school students, to saying the words "I hope to grow up to ten years old", Yoon Ho's love for Min Jing has never been mixed with any impurities. At the end of the story, the screenwriter gave us an open-ended ending, and the two reunited at the school gate, and no one knew what their future would be. This can only be left to everyone's own guesses.
Regardless of whether he and Yoon Ho can finally be together, Xu Minjing's love is always heartbreaking. Although it is a TV series, I still wish our teacher Xu a good ending.
