Kiyoshi Kurosawa's film "The Spy's Wife" topped the list of the top ten Japanese film magazines in 2020

Japan's veteran film magazine "Movie Shunbun" announced the results of the top ten awards of the 2020 Shunbun, and the film "The Spy's Wife" directed by Kiyoshi Kurosawa and starring Yu Aoi and Takahashi won the Best japanese film of the year and the best screenwriter award. The best foreign film was for South Korean director Bong Joon-ho's "Parasite", and the special award was given to Teruyo Nogami.

Set in Kobe on the eve of the Pacific War of World War II, "The Spy's Wife" tells the story of trader Yusaku Fukuhara, who is suspected of being a SPY for the United Nations, and his wife Satoko and him undergo a test of love and faith. Director Kiyoshi Kurosawa previously won the Silver Lion Award for Best Director at the 77th Venice Film Festival and the Best Director Award at the 33rd Nikkan Sports Film Awards for the film.

In terms of individual awards, the late director Nobuhiko Obayashi won best director for his posthumous work "Seaside Cinema", best actor for Mirai Moriyama in "Bad Dogs", Asami Mizukawa for "Comedy Love Wife Story" and "Slippery Walk" won best actress, Shohei Uno and Saizu Ueda won best supporting actor and actress respectively, and best male and female newcomer awards were given to Mottola Selena and Opin Daikan.
