The number of Chinese cities with direct flights to Kathmandu, Nepal, increased to 10

Kathmandu, 23 Jan (Xinhua) -- On 23 January, Himalayan Airlines (Xihang), a joint venture between China and Nepal, officially opened a direct flight route between Kathmandu and Chongqing, the capital of Nepal, thus increasing the number of Chinese cities with direct flights to Kathmandu to 10.

In addition to Hong Kong, Chengdu, Lhasa, Guangzhou and Kunming, the recent increase in direct flights includes Beijing, Guiyang, Changsha, Shenzhen and Chongqing, the latter five cities are opened by Kathmandu-based Xihang.

At the press conference of the inaugural voyage held in Kathmandu, Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi said that The continuous opening of direct flights to China by Xihang is conducive to the exchanges and cooperation between the chinese and Nepalese peoples and has made positive contributions to the joint construction of a cross-Himalayan three-dimensional interconnection network between China and Nepal.

Nepal's Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Batraj, said in his speech that the opening of new direct flight routes is encouraging, and in a few months, the airport built by Chinese enterprises in Lumbini, the birthplace of Shakyamuni, will be put into use, and Nepal's ties with China will be closer.

The reporter learned from the press conference that the flight time from Kathmandu to Chongqing is about 4 hours, and there is one flight every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
