Some people say that youth is a song that reverberates with a cheerful and beautiful melody; some people say that youth is a painting, engraved with magnificent and romantic colors.

101 years ago, in order to expel the darkness, strive for the light, and for the independence and prosperity of the motherland, a group of spirited young people composed the most magnificent song of youth with their blood and life, and painted the most magnificent picture of youth. May 4, 1919, was a day destined to be remembered by history. On this day, the long sky of history drew the brightest lightning, splitting the dark night and illuminating the first step to the road to light for 20th-century China.

In May 1919, the Chinese government, represented by the Beiyang government, prepared to sign an unequal treaty imposed on China by the imperial powers at the Paris Peace Conference, including the cession of Shandong to Japan, which seriously violated China's sovereignty and territorial integrity. On May 4, when the news of this humiliation reached China, there was an uproar among the young people with lofty ideals, and the young students quickly took action and waged a resolute struggle with the Beiyang government and imperial powerism together with the Chinese working class! Thus kicking off the prelude to the "May Fourth Movement". In order to inherit and carry forward the great "May Fourth" spirit, the Party Central Committee has designated May 4 every year as Youth Day.

In the indomitable and unrepentant struggle of the students, do we see a kind of strength?! Yes, that's the power of youth! The Communist Youth League under the leadership of the Communist Party of China has inherited the spirit of "May Fourth", and to this day, we have not for a moment forgotten the glory years that our predecessors have gone through, and we will continue to advance along their glorious footsteps and strive for the prosperity of our great motherland.

Friends, do you remember what your hometown looked like when you were a kid? A few narrow streets, a low house, summed up the whole picture of her; a few monotonous clothes, a few worn-out pieces of furniture, perhaps all our belongings. Look at the present: eight vertical and eight horizontal main roads crisscrossing, running through the southeast, southwest, and northwest, buildings are rising, colorful fashions, a variety of goods, from the countryside to the city is full of modern atmosphere, revealing the greenery of spring, full of vitality! On this beautiful picture, we, the young people of the new era, under the strong leadership of the Communist Party of China and in all walks of life, the Communist Youth League has led the vast number of young people to sketch the brightest colors on the grand blueprint of our motherland's construction!

The fluttering flag, the clenched fist, the charging figure, the fierce cry, have all remained in the torrent of history and echoed in my mind. Today's happy life is the struggle of every Chinese, and the humiliation of the past will not become the past, nor can it become the past! Young people in the new era, the "May Fourth" spirit has been passed on to my generation through time and space, and we must remember the bittersweet and sweet, not only to remember the sad tears we sipped at that time, but also to continue to struggle and start a new journey, because the "May Fourth" spirit is a spirit that will never go out of style.
