Liu Xi, born on April 14, 1928, is a native of Shatou Town, Yiyang, Hunan. In December 1944, he joined the Youth Army in Taojiang County.

When the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression broke out, Japanese soldiers invaded my hometown of Shatou, Yiyang, and were stationed in Maojiao Village, Dongxiyuan, opposite Shatou, and brought in by chen Shaochun, the local president. Japanese soldiers often went into the fields and ditches of our villages to rob the common people of their things and rape women. My distant cousin was killed by a Japanese devil, when the Japanese devil went into the village and beat my cousin to death, and my second sister-in-law was also raped. We all hate the Japanese and hate the local president. Once, the chairman Chen Shaochun brought the Japanese into the village again, and I scolded them, but the Japanese did not understand, and the president said to me: "You scold the imperial army?" I'm going to tell them!" So my mom dragged the president to let me run, and I ran, remembering that I was under 15 years old. When I ran to Taojiang, I heard that the Youth Army was recruiting, so I wanted to go, but I wanted to be 18 years old, so I went to the Yiyang Special District and issued a certificate, saying that I was 18 years old, so I joined the Youth Army. There were three people who went with them, from Taojiang to Anhua, and after taking a charcoal car to Guizhou City, they trained every day. Our unit was founded by Chiang Ching-kuo (division commander Liu Anqi, deputy division commander Liu Shuxun, and regimental commander Deng Wenxi), and the food was very good and the treatment was good. I also saw Chiang Kai-shek, when we were eating, and Chiang Kai-shek came to see us and happened to meet us.

In August 1945, the Anti-Japanese War was victorious, and we were so happy that we marched on Zunyi Street until midnight. I am in good health, after resting in Guiyang for half a year, we can freely choose to continue studying for free or continue to be a soldier, and we can go back to the local government to arrange work, how good we are treated at that time! I chose to continue to be a soldier. Then the civil war began, and I was incorporated into the 67th Division of the Nationalist Army (which army forgot), and later became the district captain of the rotation training brigade, and then to the military service section of Xingcheng County, Liaoning Province, northeast China, as a clerk.

In 1948, the Communists besieged the city, everyone ran away, and I could not go back, at that time Xingcheng County also stationed a regiment, asked me to recruit troops, I recruited more than thirty people, concentrated together on 7 days and 7 nights of warships to Tianjin, surrendered in Tianjin. In 1949, he studied at the North China Military and Political University. In 1950, he was incorporated into the platoon commander of the 606th Company of the North China 209th Division of the People's Liberation Army. In 1951, he was incorporated into the 610th Regiment of the 204th Division of the 68th Army of the People's Liberation Army, and in September 1951, he was incorporated into the 9th Company of the Stretcher Regiment of the 68th Army of the Volunteer Army and entered korea to participate in the war, and returned to China in 1953. There was no war, arranged to study modernization in Yangcheng, Liaoning, in the northeast, at the end of 1953, the upper class was divided, the team was cleaned up, and the class was well arranged for work, my family was a rich peasant, and the soldiers who were once the people were cleaned up and returned to their hometown, and finally arranged to work at the Yiyang Taxation Bureau. In 1969, he was sent to his hometown to farm for ten years, and returned to the city in 1979. Retired from the Taxation Bureau of Heshan District, Yiyang City. (Source: Sky)
