"Four Seasons origami Handmade Picture Book" (translated by Jiang Jie)
I translated the book published by foreign languages publishing house, and I was responsible for copyright negotiations. There are two main reasons for deciding to introduce this picture book to domestic readers.
The origami works in the book are simple and can be completed by beginners and children of young age (with adult guidance).
The author arranges the content according to the four seasons of the year, and while having fun with origami, he can learn about customs and culture by the way.
▲ Among the origami works introduced in the "Four Seasons Origami Handmade Picture Book", many Chinese mothers have the impression of déjà vu. For example, the above "helmet", I remember folding it many times with newspaper when I was a child. The hat can be used as a container upside down, containing a bunch of colorful candies and small toys, which is much more interesting and exciting than a serious bag.
▲ Swallows. You see, did you play this time when you were a child?
▲ Editing features of "Four Seasons Origami Handmade Picture Book": In the corner of the page, there are related utensils and character explanations, many of which are actually interspersed with historical stories, and if the adult who leads the child to play has the heart, the game can also extend a lot of topics to talk to the child.
One of the reasons for choosing the book "Four Seasons origami Handmade Picture Book" mentioned above is that it is easy to fold. At the time of the selection of books, after the theme of "origami" was decided, it was not this book that first entered the discussion of the topic of selection.
Ori-Haku series by Hisao Fukui
Left: Simulated origami, water animal weaving
Right: Simulated origami, Land Animals
Left: Simulation origami Aerial Asuka
Right: Amazing art starts with a piece of paper simulated origami
The above four volumes are the origami series written by Hisao Fukui
"Shin-Ying-Ying 纸陆动编" (Real Origami, Living Things Walking on Land) "Shin-Rin- Underwater Objects" (Real Origami: Creatures Swimming in The Water) "仿纸 Aerial Skull" (Real Origami: Creatures Flying in the Sky) 《惊艺术从张开弃仿仿纸" (Amazing art real origami made from a single sheet of paper)
It was a picture book that was the subject of our discussion. The title of this set of books is not bad at all, the origami works introduced in the four picture books are imitating the birds and animals of nature, and the works themselves are very attractive, which can make origami lovers itch their hands, want to stop, and stimulate creative desire. The daughter of the editor in charge of the children's book was less than 6 years old and less than 7 years old at the time, and we asked the little girl to help do the experiment, and the little girl looked at the picture origami under the premise of her mother's company. Unfortunately, the results of the experiment are that it is difficult for children in the lower grades of primary school students to complete them, and they must have elementary origami skills to complete these works. Domestic children, at the end of the day from the beginning of the upper grades of primary school to focus on learning, origami picture books if the age of readers set in the upper primary school grade or above, it is about difficult to have readers.
This set of origami picture books is of great quality, and I still regret giving them up.
Japan's junior high school origami club
Japanese middle schools encourage students to participate in extracurricular activity groups, and origami clubs are active in many middle schools. Tokyo's Chikubu Junior High School exhibits origami works every autumn, attracting many elementary school students.
What a nice sharp corner
"Mosquito", folded out with an origami sheet
"Dragon God"
The work named "Dragon God" in the picture above was jointly completed by 15 members of the "Origami Club" of the middle school. One of the producers, Mashiko Jun, was interviewed by reporters about his association with origami.
The first time I came into contact with origami was when I was 3 years old. At that time, I was in kindergarten, and somehow there were so many "rude" children around me, and I had almost no playmates. What is good to play alone? There is origami in the kindergarten, and it is natural to fold up. Do you have a memory of the work? Once, when I was transferring to kindergarten, a child said to me, "Fold a whatever," and I folded a wasp (スズメバチ). The folding method was learned from books. I asked my mother to buy an origami book, and my mother bought the wrong one, bought a book for origami lovers (maniac), and I actually folded the wasp out according to the book.

When I was in middle school, I was too hot to play with origami, and my parents had issued an "origami ban order"... When I grow up, I want to be a doctor. Well, it's not bad to study spaceships either. Origami is not a profession, can not support themselves, can only be a hobby. Delving into origami was useful, at least it worked out my finger skills. I've been thinking lately that origami skills might be useful in the future for developing medical capsules and tubes that can be deformed inside the human body. In the future, ai will be used instead of human origami? No way! AI can definitely fold origami works that are more perfect than humans, but just as the shogi game between humans and humans makes sense, origami is only meaningful if it is done by humans.
Mashiko's Work "Dokukakusen (Beetle)"
Mashiko's Work "Reindeer"
The reporter interviewed the work "Little Mouse" played by Mashiko Jun on the spot, which took 10 minutes
Not an off-topic topic. Miura folding (ミウラ折り, miura-ori), a technique used in maps and satellites, was invented by Koryo Miura, professor emeritus of structural engineering at the University of Tokyo, Japan. The technique is to pull apart the diagonal ends to unfold the item and push it backwards when shrinking. This method saves space and avoids losses during folding and unfolding. The study found that this method can reduce the volume of the object by a factor of 25 and increase the energy density by a factor of 14. In 2006 "Miura Folding" was rated by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as one of the top 100 Japanese inventions.
Even if it is not a special case such as "Miura Folding", from the phenomenon that Origami is active in Japanese elementary and junior high schools, origami is undoubtedly a high-quality game that can train hands and stimulate the brain, and it is worth absorbing into school and family education.
