In the history of the People's Air Force, wang Hai, the fifth head of the people' air force, is one who inherits the past and the future.
The reason why it is said that it inherits the past and the future is because of several points: First, Wang Hai participated in the Eighth Route Army during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and was the backbone of the old Red Army, the old Eighth Road, and the old liberation; second, Wang Hai was a cadet of the second phase of the old Northeast Aviation School, and Liu Yudi and Lin Hu were the earliest pilots in the first phase; third, Wang Hai and the "Wang Hai Brigade" became famous in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea and were the commanders of the Air Force who fought.
Since the founding of New China, there have been 12 air force commanders in our army, the first of whom was Liu Yalou, who was known as "Grandpa Lei", and served in office for 16 years. After Liu Yalou died of illness, he was succeeded by Wu Political Commissar, who was also from Siye. The next two terms came from Nino: Ma Ning and Zhang Tingfa, who ran the Air Force for 13 years.
However, Liu, Wu, Ma, and Zhang were all leaders of the Air Force, who "chased ducks to the shelves" and went halfway to the Air Force, and had no experience in actual combat with the Air Force. Wang Hai was the first air force commander to actually fly fighters to take out US and Chiang Kai-shek aircraft.

Wang Hai and his meritorious landline
Wang Hai stands out, both in terms of timing and geographical advantages, as well as the efforts of teams, partners and individuals.
The so-called "times create heroes", Wang Hai, born in 1926, caught up with a heroic era.
Wang Hai joined the Eighth Route Army at the end of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, and just in time for the main force of the Shandong base area to advance into the northeast; at the beginning of the establishment of our army's artillery, the air force's artillery school, and the old northeast aviation school, The 20-year-old Wang Hai was selected to enter the second aviation cadet class. At that time, the instructors of the old aviation school included Chang Qiankun, the vice president who returned from staying in the Soviet Union, as well as Yaichiro Hayashi, a Japanese who surrendered after the war, and the Instructor of the Soviet Army who led the cadets to fly in actual combat.
At the beginning of the establishment of the old northeast aviation school, the conditions were difficult, and Wang Hai and others learned the ability to soar in the blue sky by relying on the "American-Japanese integration" p-51 Mustang trainer. With the outbreak of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the Soviet Union did not dare to confront the US military head-on, which gave the young volunteer air force the opportunity to come forward. Wang Hai, Liu Yudi, Zhang Jihui, Lin Hu, and others did not miss this opportunity to play in one fell swoop and became the nemesis of the US military's "ace in air combat."

Beyond the sky, there is also the location. The Jiaodong Peninsula in Shandong is also the cradle of the generation of generals of our army in modern times.
At the beginning of the twentieth century, "breaking into the Guandong", Shandong people were the main force, and concentrated in Jiaodong, like General Chi Haotian, who was born in Zhaoyuan, Shandong, a famous gold production area, when he was a teenager, he broke through the Kanto with his father.
During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the "Tianfushan Uprising" broke out in Jiaodong, which was the birthplace of the 27th, 41st, 31st, 32nd, 20th, and 26th Armies of the People's Liberation Army and the Luzhong "Black Iron Mountain Uprising" and the "Lailaishan Uprising" in Luzhong Province. After Xu Shiyou took charge of Jiaodong in 1939, the situation of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression was very good, and the sons of Jiaodong set off a wave of joining the army, wang Hai, Zhang Wannian, Li Yaowen, etc. all entered the Eighth Route Army in the late stage of the War of Resistance, then went to the northeast and east China battlefields, and eventually grew into senior generals of the People's Liberation Army step by step.
In the new Chinese Air Force's start-up units, Erlang from Shandong and Hebei accounted for a considerable proportion. Wang Hai, Lin Hu, Zhang Jihui and other famous generals are all from Shandong. Liu Yudi, Liu Heqiao, Yao Xian, Liu Huanqi, Yuan Guohui, Chu Futian and Wang Hai's wingman Jiao Jingwen were all from Hebei.

Choosing the right pond to catch big fish, Wang Hai's success is also due to a strong team "Air 3 Division".
At the beginning of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, the US military had absolute superiority in the sea and air, and the volunteer air force, which had accumulated a lot of money, finally "showed its sword." The first to be put into actual combat was the 4th Air Division of the Volunteer Army, and the division commander Fang Ziyi was also a teacher of Wang Hai and others at the old Northeast Aviation School. In January 1951, Li Han of the 28th Brigade injured 1 US plane, and on the 29th, he shot down 1 US plane, breaking the "window paper" in one fell swoop.
On February 10, 1952, Zhang Jihui, 3rd Brigade, 12th Regiment, 4th Air Division, shot down American "air hero" Davis. In the early morning of May 30, 1953, Hou Shujun, deputy commander of the 10th Regiment, shot down a us F-94 aircraft at night.
Compared with the 4th Air Division, the second batch of the Air 3rd Division, which entered the Korean War, later ranked first with the best results.
In the list of combat heroes of the Volunteer Air Force, the top 15 air combat heroes, 7 of the 3rd Air Division, and 5 of the top 10, except for Jiang Daoping of the 4th Air 15th Division, the remaining 4 are from the hero's 3rd Division.
Wang Hai Brigade
Wang Hai's personal record: shooting down 4 US planes and injuring 5 aircraft, the total score is second only to Zhao Baotong in 2nd place, the number of shotdowns of enemy racks ranks 8th, and the number of damaged enemy racks ranks 1st. Wang Hai's wingman, Jiao Jingwen, also shot down 3 enemy planes and wounded 1 enemy plane.
Fighting alone is a lone hero, such as Zhao Baotong, who shot down and injured 9 US planes, and Liu Yudi, who shot down 4 US planes at a time.
However, a person who can fight alone and lead a team to fight requires organizational level and command ability, which is Wang Hai's superiority. The Wang Hai Brigade, which twice entered the DPRK to participate in the war, achieved remarkable results: they borrowed from bagua fists, created the air "circle array" tactics, shot down 81 air battles and injured 29 enemy planes, and continuously created 15-0 brilliant results.
The War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea produced a total of 44 first-class heroes, including 6 members of the Air Force: in addition to Zhang Jihui from the 4th Air Division, Lu Min from the 12th Air Division, Sun Shenglu martyr from the 3rd Air Division, and Zhao Baotong, Wang Hai, and Liu Yudi also from the heroic 3rd Air Division.
In November 1952, Wang Hai was promoted to the head of the 9th Regiment of the 3rd Air Division, and in December he was awarded the first class hero.
In his later years, Wang Hai recalled the air battle with the "world ace" US military: I am afraid that only our air force dared to "fight bayonets" with the world air hegemon at such a weak time, because our pilots were selfless in their hearts, so they were not afraid of sacrifice.
Martyr Sun Shenglu
After experiencing the baptism of the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea, Wang Hai and the "Wang Hai Brigade" phoenix nirvana, refined into steel.
After returning to China, the 3rd Air Division was assigned to the East China Military Region. In 1953, Wang Hai was promoted from the commander of the 29th Brigade of the 10th Regiment of the 3rd Air Division to the deputy commander of the division. In January 1955, Zhang Aiping and Huang Chaotian commanded the liberation of Yijiangshan Island.
In this battle, the fighters commanded by Wang Hai covered the bombers and strong strike aircraft to seize air supremacy, and paralyzed the command centers, artillery positions, and communication facilities on Yijiangshan Island and Dachen Island, thus creating favorable conditions for the infantry to successfully seize the island.
In 1956, at the age of 30, Wang Hai was promoted to commander of the 3rd Air Division, and soon after he was promoted to deputy commander of the 5th Air Army.
In November 1982, at the age of 56, Wang Hai became deputy commander of the Air Force. In 1985, at the age of 59, Wang Hai was promoted to commander. Three years later, our army implemented a new rank system, and 17 people were awarded the rank of general, and Wang Hai was the only general in the air force.
Jiao Jingwen, Wang Hai and Liu Yudi
At this time, 31 people in the Air Force were awarded the rank of lieutenant general, including deputy commanders Lin Hu, Li Yongtai, Liu Zhitian, Shen Kong Cao Shuangming, Beikong Liu Yudi, Lankong Sun Jinghua, Jikong Lin Jigui, Nankong Liu Heqiao, Han Decai, and Chengkong Hou Shujun. During this period, almost all the generals of our air force had brilliant records of shooting down enemy aircraft.
In 2020, General Wang Hai died at the age of 94. His "hardcore wingman" Jiao Jingwen is also very long-lived, passing away in August 2021 at the age of 95.
