Tongchuan is located fifty miles east of Yuanping City, with an area of more than 200 square miles, and has jurisdiction over three townships of Shangzhuang, Dongshe and Nanbai. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides, embracing the same river, a river until Dingxiang, and its shape is similar to the "same" character in the Chinese character, so it is called tongchuan.

Tongchuan is rich in pear fruit trees and is known as "pear town". When the pear blossoms bloom in March in the spring of Yangchun, the south and north of Sichuan are full of pink makeup and jade ornaments, silver flowers, and a sea of flowers. Wang Peizan of Zhixian County in the Qing Dynasty said: "The ten incense winds blow continuously, and ten thousand clear snow blossoms."

The people of Lixiang have prayed for a good harvest of pear fruits for generations. The temple fair at Dongshe Yuquan Temple on the tenth day of the first month of the lunar calendar is the "Flower Welcoming Party", and the people wish the pear tree more buds. The temple fair on the fifteenth day of the third month of the lunar calendar at the Jade Emperor Temple in Shangzhuang is called the "Frozen Flower Festival", which is held by the villagers to prevent the pear blossoms from freezing. The temple fair on the sixth day of the first month of April at the Nanbaibai Pagoda Temple is called the "Zhuanghuahui", and pear farmers hope to bloom strong flowers and hang strong fruits. In 1993, the dongshe town people's government decided to inherit the ancient pear culture of Tongchuan to expand the popularity of the crisp pear base, and set April 23, the peak of the flowering period, as the "pear blossom festival", with good results.
