Becky Harmon was named Colorado Athlete of the Year during his college years. She was left behind in the WNBA draft after leaving college. On May 12, 1999, he signed a contract with the New York Free man and officially entered the WNBA
Harmon suffered an unprecedented blow in the 2003–04 season, missing most of the games with a knee injury. But luckily she came out of her injury afterwards.
In the 2004–05 season, Harmon continued as the team's starting point guard. On August 16, 2005, Harmon scored the 2,000th WNBA career point. At the end of the 2004–05 season, she was named the WNBA All-Team Second Team Player.
During his time with the Liberty, Harmon led the team to the WNBA Finals three times and helped the team win the championship in 1999. She ranks second in team history in terms of number of appearances and three-point shots, and ranks third in team history in terms of total scores.

In the 2006–07 season, Harmon averaged 20.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game. Because of her shooting ability in key moments, she earned a similar title to Spurs player Robert Horry's "big shot rob," "big shot becky."
In the 2007–08 season, Harmon averaged 17.6 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, leading silver stars to the playoffs for the second consecutive year with a WNBA best of 24 wins and 10 losses, beating sacramento monarchs and los Angeles sparks and winning the Western Conference championship, but was swept by Detroit shock in the Finals.
On February 6, 2008, Becky Harmon set a Guinness World Record: 42 free throws in one minute and 38 of 38. On New Orleans All-Star Weekend 2008, Becky Harmon, Tim Duncan and David Robinson teamed up to win the "Mixed Shot" game.
In 2008, knowing that he was not selected for the U.S. women's national basketball team, Becky Harmon chose to become a Russian citizen and represented the Russian women's basketball team at the Beijing Olympics. Since then, Harmon has represented Russia at the 2009 European Championships, the 2010 World Championships and the 2012 Olympic Games.
In the 2008–09 season, Harmon averaged 19.5 points and 5.0 assists per game, leading the team to a 15-19 record in the regular season. Lost in the first round of the playoffs to eventual champion Phoenix Mercury. This year Harmon was selected as an All-Star and made it to the WNBA's All-NBA First Team.

On August 2, 2015, the New York Liberty awarded a distinction to be named to former famer and now spur assistant coach Becky Harmon at halftime against the Seattle Storms, and she was inducted into the Team History Hall of Fame.
On July 23, 2014, Becky Harmon officially announced his retirement. On August 6 of the same year, Becky Harmon was hired by the NBA San Antonio Spurs as an assistant coach, becoming the first full-time female assistant coach in NBA history.
