Jurgen Klopp described Liverpool's 3-2 win over Atletico as "dirty"

Jurgen Klopp described Liverpool's thrilling 3-2 win over 10-man Atletico Madrid as "dirty" but said these types of wins were the most important.

In a classic group match, Liverpool were double-handedly beaten by Antoine Griezmann 2-0, and then the Frenchman was sent off with a red card, and Mo salah snatched the winning goal from the scene.

Although German referee Daniel Sibert awarded Atletico a penalty for a foul on Jose Gimenez by Diogo Jota, a dramatic incident later occurred, but VAR intervened and after consulting the sideline monitor, Sibert changed his decision.

Salah celebrated with a penalty and Liverpool took a 3-2 lead

Atletico was unhappy with Sibert for much of the night, especially when Griezmann was sent off after unknowingly catching Roberto Firmino with his high foot.

Klopp was happy to leave with three points, on a night he aptly described as "dirty."

"It's a tough game, come on!" Honestly, how you win, I don't care! Dirty is what really matters! On nights like this, getting three points is really awesome. ”

"Our penalty is a penalty. I don't think another penalty is a penalty, but when they bring the ball back to [the stadium monitor], I rarely see it. I didn't expect it, but I thought it was the right decision.

"The red card is certainly unfortunate, but it's still a red card. Kicking faces or something, we've had red cards like this in the past. ”

Diogo Jota contacted José María Gimenez, but the penalty was overturned

The drama did not end with Atletico boss Diego Simeone rushing down the tunnel without shaking hands with Klopp, and although the Liverpool boss said his actions were "wrong", he could sympathize with the Argentine.

Klopp also said he was not happy with his reaction after shaking his finger in Simone's direction as he ran down the tunnel.

"The situation is clear, I want to shake his hand, he doesn't want to," Klopp said.

"His reaction was definitely not right and my [waving in the tunnel] wasn't too cool either, but we were both very emotional, so the next time I see him we'll definitely shake hands."

"He was obviously angry, not at me, but for the game, nothing else."

Klopp later said at a press conference: "I wanted to shake his hand and he ran so I could turn around so I was as emotional as he was.

"I don't think he did anything and honestly I wasn't too happy with my reaction, but it wasn't too bad either.

He's emotional, which shouldn't be a surprise to anyone, and neither should I. ”

Klopp: I'm not the Pope of Football!

After saying he could not coach Simeone's style of play before the game, Klopp reiterated his views in a post-match press conference but insisted he was not the "pope of football".

"I don't know exactly what the possession was tonight, but even if it's 11-11, I think Atletico still let us play if you see me doing the same game.

"That's how they play, I'm not the pope of football! Honestly, it doesn't matter what I say. There are some things in life that I like, some things that I don't like very much, but I can still respect them.

"I have a lot of respect for what they're doing here. I can't do it, I'm not the same person as Diego. How long has he been here? 10 years? Incredibly successful, why should they play football that I love? They play the football they like and it's all good. ”

Despite remaining unbeaten in all competitions, the longest since 1989, Klopp admits his team knows their problems and isn't as confident as it seems.

"Honestly, we're not that confident. We know our struggles, we know our problems, but we often try to ignore them.

"Tonight, two confident teams are playing against each other and I'm pretty sure if you can measure the confidence of Diego Simeone and me, I'm 100% sure he'll win, and the reasons are correct. Tonight was just a real battle - it's not about this team, this game.

"No one can win just because he's the better side, no chance. Both teams are real fighters and you saw that tonight. You'll see it again in two weeks. It's not the game I'm looking forward to, and you think, "Okay, my God, two weeks later."

'They're a tough team but we'll be there and then create a great atmosphere in our stadium and hopefully we can take advantage of it.'

The Liverpool player celebrated after taking the lead against Atletico Madrid

As Liverpool's best player of the game, Alisson praised Klopp for taking advantage of Atletico 2-2 in a half-time team talk.

"The boss is a master at saying the right thing at the right time. He said the right thing at half-time.

"We were hoping to create more opportunities against 10 people, but it was difficult when a team stopped on the bus."
