Synopsis of The Silent Classroom: In 1956, two high school students, Theo and Kurt, were on their way to see a movie in West Berlin when they saw news reports of the October Uprising in Hungary. In order to pay tribute to the dead of the uprising, they and their classmates decided to ignore the teacher in class together and suddenly fell silent for a minute. However, this short minute completely changed the fate of the class, and many were regarded as a thorn in the side of the East German Security Service, monitored and persecuted. After the class was forcibly disbanded, they decided to reunite in West Germany, but in their new capacity as fugitives.
Based on real historical events. In 1956, East German high school students held a moment of silence in solidarity with the Hungarian freedom fighters against the Soviet Army, and were put on the line by the education authorities as a counter-revolutionary event. These children, faced with the coercion of the totalitarian system, made the right choice between loyalty and betrayal, conscience and submission. The scene of students standing up and protesting in the classroom is particularly moving!
A small rebellion, but in the context of a special high-pressure political era, evolved into a series of crimes. The deception and betrayal of the fathers was the last straw for the collapse of the faith of the younger generation. One country, two faiths, this artificial division is ultimately anti-human, and "Goodbye Lenin" and "The Wave" have the same magic.
Concentration camps have been dismantled, but freedom is far from coming; the Berlin Wall has not yet been laid, and ideas are no longer communicable. The 21-year-old Soviet soldiers grabbed the 18-year-old East German students, the 53 years of turmoil affected the 56 years of silence, and the father's attack turned to the betrayal of the children. Who is Judas before the class, and who is the saint before politics. The representatives of democracy on the podium can easily become totalitarian fascists. Behind the two minutes of silence, how many shouts disappeared into the red terror.
The solid script, the rhythm of the story is well mastered, the students' bright lines and the parents' dark lines, as well as the auxiliary lines of the school and the government, are different and complement each other, and the evolution process of "political events", the friendship of the same window and the relationship between men and women is clearly explained. Only reflection will not be forgotten. In this respect, the film fulfills its ideological function.
The change of fate is often a decision in an instant, but we must stand up for our faith!
