【Four Talents of Jinmen Painters】 Zhang Zhaoxiang, a new style of the Kaijingu painting world
Speaking of Zhang Zhaoxiang, a flower and bird painter in Jinmen, Lu Li's father and elder all praised him. He created a new style in the Jingu painting world, and for a while there were many people who studied and privately, and for more than half a century, the sect style did not decrease. There are also a small number of Painters in Beijing who have studied Zhang Zhaoxiang.
Zhang Zhaoxiang (1852-1908), Zihe'an, a native of Tianjin. When he was young, his family was poor and he could not read much, but he was talented and intelligent, and he liked to paint at a young age; he sketched by hand, and his image appeared, which was praised by those who saw it. Later, after being recommended by relatives and friends, he studied painting from Meng Xiu Village and was deeply respected. Since then, it has been traced back to the flowers and birds Huang Xiao and Xu Xi, as well as Yun Shouping, Zou Xiaoshan, and Zhang Xi of the Qing Dynasty, and integrated the techniques of the Western painter Lang Shining, absorbing the strengths of ancient and modern families; turning to many teachers, forming their own style and opening up a new style in the painting world. His colorful paintings of flowers and birds have a rich and peaceful atmosphere, purple and red, brilliant colors, elegant and popular, pleasing to the eye. In addition to the brush strokes, he occasionally splashed ink to write freehand, and between the pen and ink, he revealed a little breath of literati painting. In addition to flowers and birds, he also painted landscapes and figures, but he did not write much, and few were passed down to the world; at the same time, he was also familiar with Western photographic techniques and poetry. His works have been passed down to few generations and are particularly valuable. The "Pomegranate Flower" in the Tianjin Art Museum is a treasure.
