So far this year, China's warm shrimp imports have exceeded US$2 billion

According to the latest customs statistics, from January to August, China imported 378,000 tons of warm water shrimp, worth 2.29 billion US dollars.

According to the latest data updated by China Customs on September 25, China imported 63,000 tons of frozen warm water shrimp in August, worth US$372 million. From January to August this year, the total import volume of warm water shrimp reached 378,000 tons, with a total import value of 2.29 billion US dollars.

Compared with the same period last year, the total import volume of shrimp from January to August this year increased by 234%, and the import value increased by 185%.

In August, Ecuador remained China's largest supplier of shrimp imports, with 36,500 tonnes in the month, followed by India with 16,400 tonnes in the month, and Vietnam, third, with about 3,600 tonnes.

In the first eight months of this year, the cumulative number of white shrimp imports from Ecuador reached 187,000 tons; India imported 95,000 tons, and Vietnam 15,700 tons.

Some time ago, factories in Ecuador, Vietnam, Saudi Arabia and other countries were "suspended from imports" by the General Administration of Customs of China due to detected diseases. At present, some enterprises (such as Ecuador's Omarsha, Saudi National Aquaculture Group) have been lifted.

China's shrimp imports have increased sharply this year, which is directly related to the closure of Vietnam's coastal defense border trade channel. Ecuador's shrimp exports to Vietnam fell to more than 500 tonnes in August, while China's imports soared to 125,000 tonnes in July and August.
