Pantang Five Covenants
Hidden between Liwan Lake Park and Pantang Renwei Ancestral Temple, pantang wuyue, a thousand-year-old village, not only retains the original traditional Xiguan flavor, but also becomes a small and fresh punch card place for literature and art.
Pantang is located in the hinterland of Guangzhou's western region, and the area is in the southern section of Lizhi Liwan Road, Longjin Road, Liwan Lake Huangsha Avenue, Zhongshan North 8th Road, Lychee Liwan Road. Pantang used to be called Bantang, also known as Panxi. After the Tang Dynasty, due to the alluvial sediment of the Pearl River, the formation of riverside beaches, ponds, depressions, then called "half ponds, later evolved into "Pantang". The name "Pantang" not only has the meaning of geographical landscape, but also has the meaning of hoping that local students will "enter Pan" and bless the prosperity of local cultural fortunes.
Historical records record that during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, there was the Changhua Garden of the King of the Southern Han Dynasty, also known as Liu Wang Huawu, and there was a Li Garden in the Tang Dynasty. In the Yuan Dynasty, it was once an imperial orchard for planting tribute lemons, and in the Qing Dynasty, there was a famous garden Haishan Xianguan. Pantang was successively administered by Panyu Nanhai in ancient times, and in the Qing Dynasty, it was the territory of Jinli Si'enZhou Fort in Nanhai County. In September 1930, it was transferred to the jurisdiction of Guangzhou, and the history of history has exceeded a thousand years.

The first subdivision of Pantang was extended to the fifth covenant. "Covenant" is the earliest name of a village organization, which is a settlement of villagers, equivalent to a natural village. The first and second covenants have been submerged in history, and Pantang 5th is the settlement with the largest number of original residents in Pantang
Pantang Wu is located in Liwan District, south of Zhongshan 8th Road, west of Pantang Road, and was founded in the Song Dynasty. With a historical background of more than 900 years, it is almost the only rural settlement in the historical city of Guangzhou that retains the complete pattern of the Qing Dynasty and is characterized by a typical simple style and characteristics of multi-surname clan cohabitation.
First, the green brick house
The green brick houses rich in the traditional style of Lingnan are scattered among them, some of which have been renovated and turned into neat and antique, and some of which have retained the original architectural appearance, quite a sense of historical vicissitudes, and there are full of Xiguan style and door locks with a sense of history.
Historical building, only the complete ancestral hall Li Clan Ancestral Hall remains in the village. Lingnan traditional buildings with wok-ear gables, green brick facades, and granite foundations, but the outer walls and plaster sculptures have been weathered and damaged, a large hole in the front wall is impressive, and the eaves wall in front of the head door is seriously cracked and tilted; Large area leakage of roofing; The roof tiles are missing and the cornice panels are not there.
The 150-year-old Shu Shu Shu Was once the only One in the Village
Two, five about the pavilion
Walk along the narrow mashi road alley, you will see a century-old banyan tree, under the banyan tree is the Pantang Wuyue Pavilion built in the Qing Dynasty, which looks like a landmark and participates in the growth of pantang wuyue.
Next to the Wuyue Pavilion is a stone bridge, listening to the old man in the village, when she married pantang from Shunde before, this bridge was still a wooden bridge, under the bridge is a spring, this side of the surge links this lychee bay, before the dragon boat was still pickpocketed here. The other end of the surge leads to the western suburbs swimming pool.
3. Three Official Temples
After passing through the Wuyue Pavilion and coming to the corner of the Sanguan Temple, you can see a pair of zhenshuishi lions relocated under the tree, which is the historical imprint of Lingnan Water Town
Turning around and looking up, you can see the mottled handwriting on the wall of "Pantang Third Production Team of the Western Suburbs Brigade of Shijing People's Commune", as if traveling through time and space, back to the time of the former People's Commune, the current Pantang Five Washu was called "The Third Production Team of Pantang of the Western Suburbs Brigade of Shijing People's Commune" at that time. The former site of the Pantang Third Production Team of the Western Suburbs Brigade of the Shijing People's Commune was formerly the site of the Sanguan Temple, and the wall is embedded with the inscription of the reconstruction of the Sanguan Ancient Temple in the 25th year of Jiaqing (1820 AD), recording the historical information related to the Sanguan Ancient Temple. This building is an important historical witness of the ancient village, but also the most important public space, playing mahjong, gatherings, public deliberations, daily and festive swallow drinks... This is the most popular place in the village.
It is also a special place for storing lion dances and dragon boat utensils
There is also a pantang wuxiu aquatic plant viewing area at the entrance of the commune
Since ancient times, the Pan Sugar River has been intertwined. The water network is longitudinal, the local people build a foundation on the edge of the pond, plant lychees and longan on the base, and the pond is mainly planted with mushrooms, diamond horns, lotus roots, bamboo shoots, horseshoes, because of its excellent quality, known as "Pantang Wuxiu".
Because it is thin, it was originally called "five thin". In order to call up Qingya, it was changed to "Wuxiu" during the Guangxu period.
Fourth, literary and artistic models
In the ancient village, there are many new and distinctive street signs, rainbow-colored wires, electrical boxes painted with Lingnan style, and hand-painted murals showing the humanistic style of Xiguan in the old days.
In the alley of Pantang Wuyue, there are still many small shops with a sense of literature and art, expounding the slow pace of life in the quiet years, quietly waiting for people to discover.
Maybe you'll come across an alternative bookstore where you can bask in the sun and read a book underneath the sun.
Maybe you can turn around and meet a coffee shop, guqin tea room, aromatherapy shop, art gallery, porcelain shop, Hanfu shop...
If you are tired of walking, you can also find a small courtyard in the depths of the alley, and you can drink a cup of tea and rest your feet to find your own past time.
After visiting Pantang Wuyue, it gave me the greatest feeling that here I can see the original traditional Xiguan flavor, authentic old Cantonese fireworks and literary and artistic small freshness can be harmoniously and perfectly intertwined.
