Original form of rice Annual cultivated plant. The stalks are erect, clumpy, and about 1 m tall. The leaf sheath is glabrous, the lower part is longer than the internodes; the leaf tongue is membranous and stiff, lanceolate, the lower extension of the base sides is combined with the edge of the leaf sheath, 5-25 mm long, with obvious leaf ears at young age; the leaves are flat, lanceolate to strip lanceolate, 30-60 cm long and 6-15 cm wide. The middle column sheath is a column of thin-walled cells; the primary xylem is multi-prototype, the phloem bundle is located between the xylem arc angles, and the posterior xylem has 5 large catheters, and the wood fibers are developed. The medulla cell walls are thick and lignified.
