According to the "Russia Today" (rt) website reported on the 6th, Israeli Prime Minister Bennett said that Israel opposes the Biden administration's plan to reopen the US Consulate General in Jerusalem.

In response to questions from Israeli public broadcaster Kan reporter Amichai Stein at a news conference on Saturday, Bennett said, "We've made it clear to them (the United States)." Bennett and Israeli Foreign Minister Rapid repeated the same tough rhetoric. Bennett stressed that Jerusalem was only "the capital of the State of Israel."

The Palestinian side believes that the "demotion" of the US Consulate General in Jerusalem is sending a political signal that the United States recognizes Israel's control over East Jerusalem and the West Bank.

In May, U.S. Secretary of State Blinken said the U.S. would reopen the Consulate General in Jerusalem, saying "the United States is committed to rebuilding relations with the Palestinian National Authority and the Palestinian people."
