On Friday, Zhang Guorong, Chen Baiqiang and Paul Zhong's classic old film "Unemployed Student", which chose to be released on the same day as "Spider-Man: The Return of the Hero", did not usher in a popular start, and the box office of only more than 1 million yuan on the first day did not match the strong influence of Zhang Guorong and Chen Baiqiang in the Chinese film industry. As of September 12, the film had only grossed 5.16 million in the five days of release, and the proportion of the film was reduced to 3.2%, and the box office accounted for only a pitiful 1.1%! It seems that it is not that the theater does not schedule support, but that the box office is really bad.

In April this year, Stephen Chow's "Journey to the West" was re-screened for the second time in Chinese mainland, and in the face of the strong squeeze of "Fast and Furious 8", it still won more than 170 million box office, becoming the best domestic film in the same period. In March last year, Zhang Guorong starred in the re-screening of "Fate", although the box office was average, but the good villains also had 13.91 million yuan. It is also a re-release, why is the box office of "Unemployed Student" so poor this time?
First of all, although "Unemployed Student" highlighted Zhang Guorong in the publicity process, Chen Baiqiang was actually the first male lead actor, which made Zhang Guorong's fans not completely regard the film as a brother's work. Not to mention that Zhang Guorong's classic movies are so many, even if you choose to go to the big screen to spend money to watch, it will not be the turn of "Unemployed Student".
Chen Baiqiang was an excellent singer at that time, but his identity as an actor is not widely known, and he died in 1993, many young audiences have hardly heard of him. As a result, his box office appeal is limited. As for paul Zhong, the other lead actor, the vast majority of the audience is even less familiar.
Secondly, over the years, all kinds of activities that nominally commemorate Zhang Guorong, but in fact consume Zhang Guorong, almost every year on April 1, his birthday, and September 12. Coupled with the classic old film he starred in, it has not been re-screened for the first time, and fans have long ceased to feel fresh: in 2009, "East Evil and West Poison" was re-screened, and it got 26 million yuan at the box office, and "Fate" was re-released in March last year, with a box office of only 13.91 million yuan.
It should be said that Zhang Guorong's thousands of fans, the vast majority of whom are true fans who sincerely respect his brother, but even hardcore fans will feel disgusted by those consumption activities that overdraft fan emotions.
