The Beilun District of Ningbo will create a cultural center building designed by gmp von Gekang, Marg and his partners architects. The project is located in the center of Beilun District, close to the regional government, and will build a new cultural center that gathers various cultural functions. The sturdy and solid base section of the building contains a service package for the public and a backstage function for the theater, and its façade is made of copper-gold metal trim panels, whose perforated texture is infused with the traditional pattern design of the local area. The building on the pedestal integrates various cultural functions such as a 1,200-seat grand theater, a multi-purpose concert hall for 400 people, and a district cultural center, which are arranged in a combination of layered roof terraces. This part of the façade adopts a vivid and transparent vertical 100-page glass curtain wall, allowing people to see the entrance foyer and the central hall at a glance.
The unique architectural shape of the Beilun District Cultural Center will become a new landmark of urban space, and the design concept of the roof terrace will connect and echo with the terrain of the nearby Phoenix Mountain. The main entrance of the cultural center is located on the southwest side of the plot, facing the district government, and at the same time facing the south side of the city's green axis, Beilun Central Park. The entrance square combines water features and fountains to arrange, and usually serves as a leisure activity space for citizens. The open-air landscape located on the roof of the building is also open to the public, creating a comprehensive function similar to public greenery, providing the possibility of landscape, recreation, dance, outdoor chess and various activities.
The roof space on the third floor of the building integrates a small open-air theater, from which you can see the landscape around the building. Beilun Cultural Center will not only improve the public cultural development of Beilun District, but also further meet the cultural needs of the younger generation in the community, especially for families with children or adolescents to enjoy unprecedented cultural life and spatial quality.
