"Here is a vivid red textbook"

"Here is a vivid red textbook"

On the first day of the National Day holiday, two children are saluting the Guangzhou Uprising Monument. Nanfang Daily reporter Jin Di photographed

"Understanding the deeds of revolutionary martyrs and inheriting the heroic spirit is not only in books, but also vivid red teaching materials here." On October 1, at the Guangzhou Uprising Martyrs' Cemetery, Chen from South China Normal University solemnly placed a bouquet of flowers in front of the Guangzhou Commune Martyrs' Tomb. The reporter saw that many citizens spontaneously came to the Guangzhou Uprising Martyrs' Cemetery to commemorate the heroic martyrs and relive the history that could be sung and wept.

On December 11, 1927, the Guangzhou Uprising broke out. After three days of fierce fighting, due to the excessive disparity between the enemy and our forces, more than 5,700 communists and revolutionary masses were brutally killed. Nowadays, the smoke of war has long since dissipated, and the Guangzhou Uprising Martyrs Cemetery has become a national key martyrs' memorial protection unit and a national patriotic education demonstration base, receiving more than 6 million people from all walks of life every year.

Let the seeds of patriotism take root in the hearts of children

"Take your child to the Red Ruins for a walk, let him experience that a happy life is not easy to come by, and let the seeds of patriotism in his heart take root." Ms. Zhou, who came to Guangzhou for tourism, told reporters that her children were attending primary school, and the Martyrs' Cemetery was the first stop on their trip.

Mr. Huang, a citizen of Guangzhou, also chose to take his children to visit the Martyrs' Cemetery during the holidays. "Children should not learn history only in textbooks and in class." He said that he specially changed his children into clean and tidy school uniforms and tied red scarves to express his admiration and remembrance of the revolutionary martyrs.

In the national defense education theme corridor of the Martyrs' Cemetery, Mr. Yang, a citizen, stopped for a long time. As a history buff, he is familiar with the heroic deeds of the martyrs of the Guangzhou Uprising. "Many revolutionary martyrs have left heroic deeds in Guangzhou," he said, "every time I come here, my heart is a little heavy, and I also inspire myself to inherit the red gene, be down-to-earth, and make unremitting efforts."

Let the martyrs' deeds infect more young people

In the square not far from the Guangzhou Uprising Monument, the "Revolutionaries Are Forever Young - Theme Exhibition of Some Heroic Martyrs of the Guangzhou Uprising" attracted many young tourists to stop. On a message wall, there are messages from citizens and tourists, and the words and sentences convey the remembrance of revolutionary martyrs and gratitude for a better life. Some children can't reach the blank space above the message wall, so with the help of their parents, they carefully paste the message paper.

In the memorial square of the statue of "Wedding on the Execution Ground", in front of the statues of Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun, flowers are displayed. In October 1927, Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun were dispatched by the party to pretend to be husband and wife to participate in the preparations for the Guangzhou Uprising. In January 1928, after the defeat of the Guangzhou Uprising, they risked their lives to return to Guangzhou from Hong Kong to rebuild the underground organs of the party, and in the course of the common battle, the two developed a sincere love. Later, because of the traitor's whistle-blowing, the two were arrested at the same time. In the face of the enemy's torture and coercion, they did not yield. In the end, the enemy, who had nothing to do, sentenced Zhou Wenyong and Chen Tiejun to death. On the execution ground, the two men regarded death as if they were returning home. When Zhou Wenyong was not yet out of breath, he stubbornly raised his head and shouted: "Comrades, the revolution is to the end!" ”

"It is precisely because of the bloody sacrifices of the revolutionary martyrs that we have a stable life today." After learning about their deeds, a young couple at the scene was very moved.
