Bees are a common creature in our lives, and they are common because of their large numbers. But earlier this year, the Wallace giant bee, which is considered to be the largest known bee species in the world, measured 3.81 centimeters and is almost extinct.
"There are people outside the people, there are bees outside the bees", the "Godzilla Hornet" (Big Tiger Head Bee) was found nearly 2.54 cm longer than the Wares Giant Wasp, a new breed of "Godzilla Hornet" that has a wingspan of 9.9 cm and a 6 mm stinger near the Myanmar border in Pu'er City, Yunnan Province, southwest China. With these measurements, it could be the world's largest Hornet or the world's smallest fighter jet.
The Bumblebee is the largest bumblebee in the world and one of the deadliest bumblebee, and it has another nickname, the "Yak Killer.". Yak killers live only in the tropical mountains and forested areas of eastern China (so far). It was taken to the Entomological Museum of Western China in Sichuan Province, where the museum director said the specimen was a worker bee and that the queen would be larger.
Can the great tiger-headed bee only attack species like praying mantises and yaks? Not. It is known that the great tiger-headed wasps feed on honey, they attack other bumblebee species, and they are known to attack their own species in order to carry protein-rich larvae to feed their queens, increasing the size of the organism. Tiger-headed bees use their 6 mm stingers to deliver venom containing toxins, causing tissue damage. Multiple bites from a group of large tiger-headed bees are fatal to humans, even if they are not allergic to venom. In 2013, in Shaanxi province alone, the bite of the big tiger bee killed 41 people and injured more than 1,600.
So far, professional insect exterminators have used several bee eradication schemes but the effect is not ideal:
1. Stick strike. This method is obviously clumsy and the least effective against large tiger-headed bees that can fly and have no flying logic.
2. Remove the hive. The hive of the big tiger head bee is huge and wants to remove the hive unless all the bees are sleeping.
3. Traps. Although this method is effective, the cost is expensive, and the cost of eradicating these large tiger bees is incalculable.
4. Poison. This method is the most lethal, but it is not good for other species, causing contamination of the biological chain and other side effects.
5. Fire attack. It seems to be the simplest and most effective way, which will only cause the chicken to be killed and the egg will be retrieved. The larvae of the great tiger head bee are rich in protein and are conducive to improving human endurance, if it is burned, wouldn't it be a pity?
Although fierce, the great tiger bee has not seen large-scale attacks on humans and animals so far, and if so, we should consider how to live in peace with them or isolate them, or use its natural enemies to deal with them.
