Statue of Han Hao Martyr.
Han Hao (1905-1935), formerly known as Kim Han-jae, was born in North Korea in 1905 and moved with his family to Hezi, Hengdao, Huadian County, Jilin Province. He was educated in patriotism in elementary school and harbored strong national indignation against the Japanese imperialists' invasion of Korea. He joined the Communist Party of China in 1930. After the "918" incident in 1931, he joined the Rock Workers' and Peasants' Volunteer Army. In 1932, he was appointed commander of the Second Brigade of the South Manchurian Guerrillas. On September 18, 1933, the Independent Division of the First Army of the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army was established, with Yang Jingyu as the division commander and political commissar, and he served as the commander of the Third Regiment, and together with the regimental political commissar Cao Guoan, he followed the division headquarters to Panshi, Liuhe, Sanyuanpu and other areas. In November 1934, the First Army headquarters of the Northeast People's Revolution was formally established, with the First and Second Divisions under it, with Li Hongguang as the commander of the First Division and he as the deputy commander of the First Division. In May 1935, after the death of division commander Li Hongguang, he succeeded him as the commander of the First Division of the First Army of the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army. During this period, he led his troops to open up the anti-Japanese guerrilla areas of Huanren, Benxi, and Kuandian in southern Manchuria with General Yang Jingyu, and was one of the actual founders of the Kuandian Tianqiaogou Anti-Japanese Joint Camp and the Siping Street Anti-Japanese Association (the predecessor of the Siping Township Government). On August 28, 1935, he was killed in a battle with the Japanese garrison near Liujia Street in Gangshan Erdaogou between Tonghua and Huanren Highways, at the age of 30. After his death, he was succeeded by Cheng Bin, director of the Political Department of the First Division (who defected in June 1938).
Han Haozhi was one of General Yang Jingyu's right-hand men and generals. His sacrifice was a major loss to the First Army of the Northeast People's Revolutionary Army (later renamed the Northeast Anti-Japanese Coalition Army).
On August 24, 2015, Han Hao was included in the second batch of 600 famous anti-Japanese heroes and heroes released by the Ministry of Civil Affairs.
