Yuan Jing's "combination of learning and application" reading method
This is a method of reading books that focus on certain masterpieces according to writing needs and interests.
Yuan Jing, a contemporary female writer who has experienced ups and downs, cooperated with Kong Duan after the Yan'an Literary and Art Forum and wrote the famous novel "The Biography of the New Children's Heroes". She has also written excellent works such as the screenplay "Rent Reduction", "Huai Shang Ren ren > and the novel "Red Traffic Line". Even in his advanced age, he still worked diligently and wrote many good works such as "Big Tiger" and "Golden Key". She uses the "combination of learning and application" reading method. In her view, this approach "can be achieved in a shorter period of time and receive greater benefits." Here's what she did:
First, what to write, what to read.
Yuan Jing said: "Which genre you want to study, you should read more works of these genres."
Before writing "The Biography of the New Children's Heroes", she repeatedly read < The Dream > of the Red Chamber, and "The Legend of Water Travel", studied their methods of portraying characters, pondered how they made the characters prominent, and how to express the vivid and distinct personalities of the characters through the vivid dialogues and special behaviors of the characters. She reads with specific questions of writing, has a strong sense of purpose, and is particularly sensitive to acceptance.
After Yuan Jing wrote the story of < little dark horse> and other three novellas reflecting children's lives, she became interested in fairy tales and wanted to write several fairy tales, so she took this problem with her, found many excellent fairy tale works to read, studied the creation rules, techniques and expression methods of fairy tales, and then wrote two. This method of "what to write and what to read" is a purposeful reference. Therefore, the study is particularly meticulous and proactive; After reading, I practice writing, and I can practice what I read in time, and I have a solid grasp and a deep understanding
Second, what to love, what to read.
What genre of works you like, read more of these masterpieces. Yuan Jing felt that classical Chinese novels were popular with the people, suitable for the tastes of the masses, and it was also a genre that she wanted to write, so she chose masterpieces such as "Dream of the Red Chamber> and read them continuously. In foreign novels, she often read Pushkin's The Captain's Daughter >. Because she felt that "the style of this novel has some similarities with classical Chinese novels: the story is stronger, the development is relatively fast, the plot is tortuous, vivid, lively and bright." ”
She believes that "because I love this style of work, I have to come faster when I absorb these nutrients and turn them into my own flesh and blood." ”
Third, read repeatedly, use in a timely manner. -
To use the essence of excellent works for one's own use, we need a process of digestion and absorption that "reads repeatedly, reads intensively, chews carefully and slowly." Only by reading repeatedly can you discover, appreciate and accept the essence of it. Only by using it in time can we consolidate the reading and deepen our understanding.
