Tang Aoqing and Jilin University were associated in 1952, when Tang Aoqing was transferred to Northeast Renmin University, the predecessor of Jilin University, as a professor, and founded the Department of Chemistry with Cai Yongsheng and others. From 1978 to 1986, he was the president of Jilin University, presiding over and leading the overall work of the school. At 11:15 on July 15, 2008, Tang Aoqing died in Beijing at the age of 93.
