Let's look at his students, since the restoration of the graduate school system in 1978, Tang Aoqing has recruited a total of 14 doctoral students and 26 master's students. The students are Academician Shen Jiaqiao, Academician Xu Ruren, Academician Li Lemin, Academician Yan Deyue, Academician Chen Kaixian, Academician Fang Weihai, and Professor Wu Tonghao of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.

According to the data, in 1915, Tang Aoqing was born in Heqiao Town, Yixing County, Jiangsu Province. After that, he entered Wuxi Normal School, Jiangsu Provincial Yangzhou Middle School, and was later admitted to the Department of Chemistry of Peking University.
In 1938, after the beginning of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, Tang Aoqing went to Kunming with the school and began to continue his studies in the Department of Chemistry of Southwest Union University. In July 1940, Tang Aoqing graduated from the Department of Chemistry of Southwest Union University and stayed on to teach.
Six years later, in 1946, Tang Aoqing, Li Zhengdao, Zhu Guangya, Wang Ruiyun, Sun Benwang, etc., accompanied by the well-known Chinese chemist Zeng Zhaoxuan, mathematician Hua Luogeng, and physicist Wu Dayu to the United States as assistants, and then was recommended to stay in the Department of Chemistry of Columbia University to pursue a doctorate. In February 1950, after returning to China, he became a professor in the Department of Chemistry of Peking University.
Tang Aoqing and Jilin University were associated in 1952, when Tang Aoqing was transferred to Northeast Renmin University, the predecessor of Jilin University, as a professor, and founded the Department of Chemistry with Cai Yongsheng and others. From 1978 to 1986, he was the president of Jilin University, presiding over and leading the overall work of the school. At 11:15 on July 15, 2008, Tang Aoqing died in Beijing at the age of 93.

In order to commemorate the old president Tang Aoqing, Jilin University was selected by the Ministry of Education in 2009 into the "Experimental Program for The Training of Top-notch Students in Basic Disciplines" (referred to as the Top-notch Program) of the Ministry of Education, and established a pilot class named after Mr. Tang Aoqing, former president of Jilin University, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and chemist.
