During his inspection and investigation at Nankai University, General Secretary Xi Jinping highly praised the famous "Patriotic Three Questions" of the old president Zhang Boling, pointing out: "This is not only a question of history, but also a question of the times and the future. According to the website of the Hong Kong Central Liaison Office, Yang Jianping, deputy director of the Central Liaison Office, wrote an article in the "Employee Column" on the 28th, mentioning the famous "patriotic three questions" of Zhang Boling, the founding president of his alma mater, Nankai University, and he also had "three questions" when he looked around the current situation in Hong Kong, directly denouncing the anti-amendment demonstrators as "those who held up the American flag and the British flag and marched and demonstrated," stressing that now it is no longer the old China that was slaughtered by others in modern history, and the Chinese government and 1.4 billion Chinese people will not lose their rights and humiliate the country by them. A few days ago, I was invited to the Hong Kong-Tianjin Friendship Association gathering to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China and the 25th anniversary of the founding of the Association. The venue was full of laughter, singing and dancing, and full of positive energy.

I got acquainted with Tianjin because of my alma mater, Nankai University. After the "Cultural Revolution" inland resumed the college entrance examination, I had the privilege of becoming one of the first batch of college students and spent a wonderful 4 years in Nankai. This year is the 70th anniversary of the founding of New China, and it is also the centenary of the founding of Nankai University, just past October 17, the alma mater held a grand celebration.

I regret not being able to return to Tianjin to celebrate the birthday of my alma mater, but the memories of my alma mater are always haunting my mind these days. The most memorable thing is the famous "patriotic three questions" of Mr. Zhang Boling, the founding principal of the school.

"Are you Chinese?"

"Do you love China?"

"Would you like China to be good?"

In the years of deep suffering in old China, these three questions deeply impacted the hearts of the benevolent people who were struggling to find out, aroused the aspirations and patriotism of the Nankai people one after another, and forged the unceasing patriotic tradition of Nankai University. During the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression, the Japanese invaders bombed the Nankai campus in an attempt to destroy the anti-Japanese will of the Nankai people. But the Nankai people are not intimidated! A large number of Nankai students threw their pens from Rong and rushed to the anti-Japanese front. The third son of Principal Zhang Boling is one of them, he joined the Air Force, fought in the long sky, and finally sacrificed his life on the battlefield, paying for the young life of the motherland.

Today, the "Patriotic Three Questions" have been greatly engraved on the Nankai campus. At the beginning of the new school year, on the stage, the principal asked questions loudly one by one, and offstage, the teachers and students responded in the affirmative with sonorous and powerful answers.

Silently chanting the "patriotic three questions" and looking around at Hong Kong at present, I fell into contemplation.

President Xi Jinping said, "A nation that does not remember the way out is a nation without a way out." "Many young people in Hong Kong do not know the history of the motherland being bullied and humiliated by the great powers in modern times, are not familiar with the earth-shaking and profound changes since the founding of New China, do not understand the inseparable close ties between Hong Kong and the country in sharing honor and disgrace, and lack a sense of identity with the country and the nation." The country that destroys people must first go to its history", which is the bitter fruit of British colonial rule and the serious lack of education in Hong Kong after the reversion.

In addition to the accumulated grievances over social and people's livelihood problems, the chaos in Hong Kong today has concentrated on exposing the bias of some Hong Kong people, especially young people, in their understanding of the national conditions, so much so that some people have used the "anti-amendment bill" to vent their hatred for the country and spread the concept of separation and "Hong Kong independence" without any scruples and concealment, which shows how serious the distortion of the national consciousness in Hong Kong society has reached!

In addition to the pain, I couldn't help but have "three questions" and wanted to ask young friends in Hong Kong.

One question, do you understand China today?

In the 70 years of New China, it has changed from a poor and weak "sick man of East Asia" to the second largest in the world in terms of economic aggregates exceeding that of Japan and the European Union combined, and the average life expectancy has increased from more than 30 years old to more than 70 years old. This country of 1.4 billion people has a complete industrial system, excellent innovation capabilities and strong national defense forces, and plays an important role in international affairs. Reform and opening up has created a rapid growth that has lasted for 40 years, with an average of 1 person crossing the poverty line every 3 seconds, which has been marveled at by the United Nations. Beidou, Jiaolong, Chang'e, 5G, and the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge across the Lingling Ocean, amazing technological development and infrastructure construction, make the country change with each passing day. The global increase in forest cover in the past 20 years is equivalent to one more Amazon rainforest, with a quarter of which comes from China's contribution.

You may not deny China's economic achievements, but you scoff at China's political system. Indeed, if American-style democracy is used as a criterion, China will never be qualified, because China does not practice a multi-party system and separation of powers. China also has elections, but it pays more attention to consultation, "there are things to discuss, and the affairs of the people are discussed by everyone", which can better reflect the true meaning of democracy. Administration, legislation, judiciary, supervision, these modern state management system modules are all available in China, but the CPPCC is unique to China. One-party governance, multi-party cooperation, and political consultation, this kind of political system takes into account fairness and efficiency, can concentrate on doing big things, reduces ridicule, is more suitable for China's national conditions and the needs of rapid development, and becomes the institutional guarantee for China's economic take-off. "The economy is strong, the politics are terrible", this is the label imposed on China by Western society, a paradox that is difficult to justify, but it deceives too many Hong Kong people.

Second question, can you get out of China?

Hong Kong has always been China's territory, and after its return to China, it was a special administrative region of China. To say that it is a Hong Konger and not a Chinese is absurd ignorance plus logical confusion. You can leave Hong Kong and immigrate to other countries, but black hair and yellow skin are innate and cannot be changed. Whether you like it or not, as long as you live in Hong Kong, most of the water you drink, the electricity you use, and the meat and vegetables you eat come from the northern mainland. Wherever you go, as long as you have a SAR passport, when you are in trouble in a foreign country, it is the Chinese Embassy that can help you.

A country has only one sovereignty, and Hong Kong is inseparable from the country. Those who are demonstrating with American flags and British flags probably want foreign governments to protect them and want foreign countries to dominate Hong Kong. Unfortunately, it is no longer the old China that was slaughtered by others in modern history, and the Chinese government and 1.4 billion Chinese people will not be humiliated by you!

Three questions, do you see the future of China?

In the past 70 years, the people of Chinese have gone from standing up to getting rich and becoming stronger. China's development blueprint has been drawn, and by the middle of this century it will be built into a prosperous, strong, democratic, civilized, harmonious and beautiful socialist modern power. This is precisely the node of Hong Kong's "one country, two systems" unchanged for 50 years, the "two systems" complement each other, and Hong Kong and the motherland share the glory. China's development cannot be stopped by any force, and the total economic volume ranking first in the world is just around the corner. This is not a delusion, institutional advantages and experience accumulation, as well as the concerted efforts of 1.4 billion people, will eventually make the Chinese dream a reality.

It is not surprising that some people do not see this prospect, and to this day, the "final conclusion of history" and the "theory of China's collapse" are still heard. We are no longer beaten, we are no longer hungry, but we are still being scolded because people control the right to speak and the field of public opinion. China is scolded by the West because we have taken a different path of national governance than the West. However, no matter how many good things the Chinese Communist Party has done for the Chinese people and for the international community, it will be scolded and regarded as a different kind. China does not want to export the system, we just found a development path that suits us, and we must go on firmly. Today's world is in a major change that has not been seen in a hundred years, and its core is institutional competition, and China is really not afraid of institutional competition! The vicissitudes of 70 years have given us confidence and made us confident in the future!
