One year, there was a lot of rain, and the store had a light business and a lot of printed cakes in the store. Meng Xian saw that these cakes were in danger of deteriorating, so he had to temporarily bake the cakes with charcoal fire so that they could be stored for a few more days. Unexpectedly, the color of the baked cake changed from white to yellow, the texture changed from soft to hard, and it also emitted a burst of rice aroma, and when tasted, the taste was better than the original cake. Meng Xianzheng was inspired, so he operated exclusively in the name of fragrant cakes, and hung up the sign of "Meng Damao Fragrant Cake Shop" on the street. Since then, Shaoxing fragrant cake has become a traditional specialty.
