According to Sing Tao Network, Judge Rod Quan postponed the case until the afternoon of February 8 next year for retrial. The judge said that the facts of the case were serious, and if the sentence would not be short after conviction, the bail conditions were granted to the defendants based on risk assessment, and the defendants were granted bail of HK$1,000, but they were not allowed to leave Hong Kong during the period, they were required to hand over their travel documents, reside at the reported address, and report to the police station once a week.
The eight defendants are Chen Haohuan, 24, Zeng Jiancheng, 64, Xu Zijian, 53, Hu Zhiwei, 58, Chen Rongtai, 56, Zhu Kaidi, 43, Liang Guoxiong, 64, and Deng Shili, 58. The first five are also accused of illegally inciting other unknown persons to knowingly participate in an unauthorized public procession outside the Court of Final Appeal in Central on June 30 this year, without legal authority or reasonable excuse.
In addition, the other eight persons, with the exception of Tsang Kin Shing and Chan Wing Tai, are also accused of participating in, holding or organizing unauthorized public demonstrations in the area of Hennessy Road and To Lao Chi Road in Wan Chai on July 1 this year, together with other unknown identities, knowingly participating in, holding or organizing unauthorized assembly without legal authority or reasonable excuse.
