"The Thorn of Death" is a Japanese film about married life. At the beginning of the film, husband Toshio is dissuading his wife who has suicidal thoughts, while his wife Miho is fiercely accusing him of cheating.
For her, her husband was everything she had, and she "gave her whole body and mind to her husband, but was betrayed in this way." The husband cheats on him, which means that his life is over and he can die.

She recalled the details of her husband's infidelity over and over again, sometimes self-pitying, sometimes angry and crazy:
"What color are the underwear you bought for her?" I'd love to wear underwear of so many colors. ”
"But what have you given me?" I envy her so much, even if you only sent me a pack of cigarettes. ”
She kept questioning, as if trying to deny or even reverse these facts, but the result only left her with a painful breakdown. Miho's appearance is actually very moving, but because of the pain caused by jealousy, she is out of control and crazy, causing her face to become distorted.
The camera moves back, and two sleeping children appear in the picture, set off by cute children, highlighting the endless sadness of this twisted relationship between the two couples.
In order to prevent his wife from "committing suicide or killing her lover", Toshio breaks up with her lover and returns to the family.
Miho does not believe that her husband is really returning, and after Toshio goes to work, Miho secretly follows him, finds him an hour early and is furious, and asks him if he is going to find "that woman"?
Toshio explained that he left work early because he had done his job early and was going home. If she didn't believe it, she could set a route that would pass by herself every day after work, and she would pick him up from the same direction so they wouldn't miss it.
When Miho heard this, she smiled happily, her smile bright and frightening.
When he is not at work, Toshio and Miho are inseparable, buying vegetables together and visiting other people's homes together. Miho casually dominates Toshio, who mechanically and mutly follows her instructions, and Miho smiles happily.
When they are not in front of people, they will return to that cold and stiff state, and the scene of eating together looks like a horror movie.
In the film, Miho's character is close to neurosis, and her behavior is always extreme. In her perception, there is no option of "divorce" – either the husband returns or he dies.
Many people watching the movie commented: "Since it is already so painful, why not get a divorce?"
You know, this movie was filmed in 1990, and the original "Dead Thorns" was written in 1960. Sixty years ago, Japan, and 2021 China, there are huge differences in both social atmosphere and ideological cognition. Judging people of the past with the eyes of the present is too unrealistic.
Japan has always been a misogynistic country with patriarchal thought, and patriarchy prevails. From the perspective of male power, a woman is not an equal person like herself, but just a "nother" who exists to serve herself.
Miho also corresponds to the patriarchal thinking at that time, she will only look at herself from the perspective of men, men feel that she is valuable, she lives, men do not love her, she dies. Due to her own limitations, it is difficult for her to think outside of her own thinking.
On the other hand, the reason why she relies so much on this evaluation system is because she does not have a stable sense of self-worth, so she throws all her self on the man, and when the man leaves her, it is to suck away her motivation to survive, and she immediately becomes dry.
In infancy and toddler, children confirm themselves through feedback from their parents, and when they give their children affirmation, the children form a basic good sense of self. Slowly, this beautiful image is internalized into the child's heart, and it becomes a part of the child's self, and this beautiful feeling will not dissipate because the parents disappear.
When children grow up, they will also look at themselves positively and will not easily doubt their own value because of the denial of others.
If childhood is not affirmed enough, then the child's heart will form a "black hole", and when he grows up, in order to escape this sense of emptiness and lack, he will grasp the outside world to fill it. Girls are the most often caught by men, and the men who are caught often want to flee, which will arouse the trauma of abandonment of girls.
Therefore, the more girl who lacks love, the more she will meet scumbags. However, when the trauma is touched by the scumbag, it is also an opportunity to heal yourself, face your pain, and maybe find a new self.
