Ma Wenge is a talented player who has played table tennis for thirty years, enough to rival the "evergreen tree of table tennis" Waldner. Ma Wenge was born in 1968 in Tianjin's Hexi District, the youngest of four siblings. At the age of 7, he began playing table tennis at Fujian Road Primary School in Hexi District (later merged with Xiangjiang Road Primary School) in the "cradle of table tennis", under the tutelage of Coach Xing Heli. At the age of 13, Ma Wenge made a name for himself in the table tennis competitions of primary and secondary schools and was selected by the Tianjin Junior Table Tennis Training Team. After joining the team, he participated in a series of national competitions and has always been at the top of the list. In 1983 and 1984, Ma Wenge won the men's singles championship of the National Junior Table Tennis Championships for two consecutive years, attracting the attention of table tennis experts. However, due to his low stature and thin stature, he has not been selected for the national team. He often added weight to himself, and the effect of usual training was also very good, and finally in 1985, he was selected for the national table tennis training team.
In 1989, at the age of 21, Ma Wenge competed in the World Table Tennis Championships. Ma Wenge's basic skills are solid, willing to use his brain, and work hard. In September 1989, in the final of the 10th World Cup Table Tennis Tournament in Nairobi, Kenya, Ma Wenge and Polish veteran Gruba faced off. In the first round, Ma Wenge lost 17:21. After the Tianjin World Table Tennis Championships, Ma Wenge left the national team to play in a club in Germany, on the one hand, to increase income, but also to continue the life of the sport. In 2009, Ma Wenge left the German table tennis scene for ten years, and after playing for thirty years, he officially retired and returned to Tianjin to serve as the head coach of the Tianjin table tennis team. In the 2012 season, Tianjin teamed up to participate in the table tennis super, and also encountered sponsorship problems, and Ma Wenge had paid for it from his own pocket to maintain it until he won the championship of the 2018-2019 season, and finally realized his dream.
