Former bodyguards of the French president who beat protesters were sentenced to 3 years in prison

On November 6, the case of French President Macron's former personal bodyguard beating protesters has made further progress, and the person involved, Alexandre Benara, has been sentenced to three years in prison.

According to the news of Russia today on the 5th, Benara was accused of beating and unauthorized interference with police operations, and was also found to have forged documents and illegally carried firearms. The court sentenced him to three years in prison, suspended for two years, while serving a 12-month sentence at home wearing an "electronic tag," meaning Benalla would not be held in jail.

Benara has not publicly commented on the verdict. Previously, Benalla denied the allegations and said her actions were "conditioned" just to help the police.

Benara punched and kicked a man and a woman during a protest in France in 2018, and the video caused an uproar after it went viral on social media. Shortly after the incident was exposed, the French government announced the dismissal of the bodyguard, which also became a serious crisis for the French government.
