Text/Chen Yan
From the time I first entered the Daomen, I read an article called "Ten Immortals of the Lengyan Sutra", written by Mr. Chen Yingning, and then I was deeply impressed by the name Chen Yanning. I always feel that with my surname, it is also a fate. On the other hand, I also feel that there is even a Buddhist scripture that belittles the "immortals" of Taoism. I've read it a few times since then. With the continuous in-depth study of Taoism, the more I felt that this article was extremely rebuttal.
The original text of the Lengyan Sutra says:
“
"Ananda, there are ten kinds of immortals who do not practice samadhi without enlightenment, do not cultivate delusions, have fixed their thoughts, and swim in the mountains and forests where people are not reached... Famous land immortals. Flying Fairy. The famous parade fairy... Nago Yukin. Celestial Immortals... The name passing immortals. Famous Immortals... Ming Zhao Xing Xian... Mingjing Xingxian... The name is immortal. Ananda is waiting to cultivate the mind among men, without correcting consciousness. Don't get physiology, live for thousands of years, rest in the mountains, or the sea island, absolutely in the human realm, Si yi reincarnation delusional circulation, do not cultivate samadhi, repay all the returns, scattered into all kinds of fun. ”
”
At the beginning of the verse, it is said that there are people who do not rely on enlightenment, do not think about how to "have ten kinds of immortals" clouds, and then say that "immortals" will eventually return to scatter into the fun. Saying that it is a fairy is a way to get away with it, although it can be a thousand years old, it can never get rid of the bitterness of samsara. When I first read this article, I wondered if the Buddhists would also have the theory of "immortals"? I wondered if this was the time when translating the scriptures, when the translator borrowed the Chinese term "immortal" in order to find a pronoun to replace the practitioners who cultivated from the human beings themselves in ancient India. Because what "from man" in this scripture says, "Cultivate from man's original body." That is to say, this passage is talking about the "immortals" who practiced from the human body in India, not the "immortals" of the Chinese Taoist Huang Laoxian. This immortal word was only borrowed by the translator of the Buddhist scriptures.
But look closely, otherwise! In this article, the ten kinds of immortal names are described and the cultivation method is: "Solid bait without resting, solid grass and trees without resting, medicine path round into ... ... " Strong golden stone without rest , Transformation of the Road without rest , solid movement without rest , Qi jing round into clouds ", in fact, it is massage, guidance, bait, cooking lead and mercury, contemplation and so on, these are the cultivation kung fu of Taoist health! This is indeed adding and narrowing the scope of the term "xian" to the Taoist "xian". Therefore, this remark is aimed at the demeaning of The Taoist "Immortals", and is "degrading others to exalt themselves"!

Mr. Chen Xiaoning, at the beginning of the "Ten Immortals of the Lengyan Classic", said that this passage of the "Lengyan Classic" was harmful: "The ten immortals of the "Lengyan" say that since the Tang Dynasty, about 1,230 years. Throughout the ages, those who read the "Leng Yan" and became discouraged and changed their minds should be invincible. Ordinary people despise the immortal path even more, and praise the boundlessness of the Dharma. For those who have gained a little from the two doors of the Immortal Buddha, they only recognize the Immortal Path as a convenient transition to learn the Buddha, and in the end they should still return to the Buddha as the end. Books such as "The Purpose of Life" are its representative works. At present, there is no shortage of immortal scholars in the national lay scholar community, who have been repeatedly rebuked by shallow Buddhists, and every time they borrow the "Leng Yan Jing" to suppress the divine power of Mount Tai, the lay people are silent and do not dare to defend it."
As Slovak says, many secular fools and foolish Buddhists often use this verse in debates to suppress Taoists and learners, and it is quite effective! Most of the Daoist friends who were harassed by this scripture did not know how to refute it, and they were sullen and speechless. There are also those who have since abandoned taoism to study Buddhism. Around me, there were elder practitioners who had read this sutra and then changed their minds and turned to studying Buddhism.
Buddhist scriptures that have such a great negative impact on Taoism can be refuted by such a great master as Mr. Chen Juning, so as to clear the source of the original and be fortunate in the true Way! What is even more fortunate is that Mr. Chen Xiaoning refuted this scripture, but also introduced the content of the commentary on this passage in the "Leng Yan Zheng Pulse Sparse", and at the same time gave a strong counterattack to both!
Take pleasure in life (infographic)
The "Leng Yan Zheng Pulse Sparse" is written by Master Jiaoguang in the Ming Dynasty, and the annotation to the ten immortals of the "Leng Yan" is even more directly in terms of the Daomen Immortal Theory, which is ten times more thorny than the original scripture. The "Leng Yan Zheng Pulse Sparse" says: "The Fu Xian Dao arose when sentient beings were afraid of impermanence, wanted to live permanently, and set up many paths in vain, and were nothing more than determined to live forever and immortally. It is said that the origin of the immortal path is because people are afraid of the so-called "impermanence" of the world, such as old age, sickness, and death, and they are greedy for eternal life and try to cultivate it; originally this body is a delusional body, but instead using the art of immortality to seek the eternal life of this body is wrong to add the wrong clouds.
Mr. Chen Xiaoning gave a very wonderful rebuttal to this view of "Leng Yan Zheng Pulse":
Wasn't Shakyamuni's motivation for monastic practice in those years not due to his fear of impermanence? Out of the East Gate on the road to meet an old decay, out of the West Gate on the road to meet a sick man, out of the South Gate on the road to meet a dead body, and then into the mountains, diligent asceticism. Unfortunately, his old man's luck was not good, and he was not born in China, but in India. The two teachers I met were not necessarily very knowledgeable, so they had not yet been able to fully understand the practice of practicing empirical evidence to avoid the three sufferings of old age and illness. As soon as he played a good play in the old man's home, he waved the flag and shouted, sounded the gong and beat the drum, and sang for forty-nine years, which was a 'jue' word. I am not saying that there should be no 'enlightenment' in life, but what is regrettable is that there is no way to avoid old age and illness except for one 'enlightenment'. Zen, right? Meditation, right? Chanting, right? Holding a spell, right? None of this can be achieved. What's the use of a futile sleep? Nowadays, people are even more crisp, and simply don't even want 'awareness'. As soon as Amitabha Buddha is heard, he will immediately send you to the Western Heavens.
Mr. Chen's rebuttal not only refutes the "Leng Yan Zheng Pulse", but also gives the Zen commonly used "head stick drink" to all vain and arrogant Buddhists, as well as those who vainly want to recite the Buddha's trumpet and seek the Pure Land!
Here is a short story: the monk Gu Yun persuaded the White Jade Toad Ancestor to enter the Gate of Liberation in order to seek the glory of the Buddha Gate. Bai Zu replied, "The Zen Method, which I have obtained before, is the practice of meditation, which belongs to the accumulation of yin and yin, and takes pleasure in death, as the Nirvana Sutra says: 'Birth and death are destroyed, and silence is bliss'; and our Chinese way is to refine the true essence of pure yang, the form of the gods is wonderful, the transcendent heaven and earth exist alone, and the life is happy." Therefore, the two religions of Buddhism and Taoism are different, and the different paths are not mutually exclusive! Gu Yun was very impressed after hearing this, and finally followed Bai Zu to learn the Tao. (For the original text, see "Pure Ming Religion Record: The Biography of Master Bai Zhenren")
The so-called "enlightenment", in The words of Taoism, is nothing more than the practice of "sexual skills" to the point of proficiency. There is a saying in the Dan Dao Gate: "If you don't cultivate your life, it will be difficult for the yin spirits of all disasters to enter the holy!" In other words, isn't the "yin spirit" exactly what Bai Zu called "the courage of the yin"?
The Zhong Lu Ecclesiastical Collection also has the same statement:
Lü Yue: 'It is this ghost immortal, what kind of skill did he do, and what kind of work did he use to cause this?' Zhong Yue: "Those who practice do not begin to realize the path, but want to achieve it quickly." Shaped like a mallet, the heart is like dead ashes, the divine consciousness is guarded, and the will is not scattered. The yin god is the ghost of the pure spirit, not the immortal of pure yang. With its one-minded yin spirit is not scattered, it is known as a ghost immortal. Although it is known as a fairy, in fact, there are ghosts. Ancient and modern disciples of worship, who have worked hard to this point, know that they have attained the Tao, and it is ridiculous. ’
Ancient and modern disciples of worship and interpretation, with hard work, in the end, only a yin spirit is not scattered, it is a ghost of the qing spirit, and even the ghosts and immortals cannot be counted. Or the sentence: "It is difficult for the spirits of all calamities to enter the holy spirits" Ah.
From this point of view, Mr. Chen said: Shakyamuni and his old man hyped themselves up "enlightenment", flaunting that the so-called "enlightenment" is the only truth, and belittling everything else is a delusion. In addition to "enlightenment", there is no way to relieve the suffering of "old age, sickness, and death", even if you "sleep in vain, what is the use?" ”。 What a nail in the coffin! In addition, what is even more ridiculous is that today's Buddhist students do not even bother to "enlighten" to realize enlightenment, but instead delusionally think that they can only move their mouths and chant "Amitabha Buddha" and then pass on to the Pure Land.
Is it true that entering Nirvana and entering the Pure Land is free from reincarnation? (Infographic)
In addition, Mr. Chen's rebuttal to the ten immortals of the Lengyan has the following views:
1
From the cultivation of people, the "Leng Yan Zheng Chakra" cloud is the cultivation of the human body. If, as the Lengyan Sutra says, if it belongs to non-enlightenment and do not practice delusions, then people in the world do not want to rely on their own strength to practice empirical evidence, but delusional western has a paradise world, delusional after death Amitabha Buddha came to guide me, delusional thoughts of the Pure Land of Rebirth to seek to avoid reincarnation, do not know how many tens of thousands of times the delusions? How is it that after death, the delusion of having no evidence is regarded as a real thing, and how is it to regard the practice of empirical deeds of others before death as delusional thoughts?
2
Some scholars have long proposed that it is a pseudo-scripture.
3
Even if it was the true scriptures spoken by Shakya himself, how could the Indian Shakyamunis know nothing about the Chinese Immortal Path, so how could he make a vain judgment?
4
Writing about the ten kinds of immortals is a layman of immortals, and with these ten cultivation methods, it would be nice to be able to delay your life a little.
5
Jing Yun: "It is to cultivate the mind among people, and not to correct consciousness." "The boundaries between refining the mind and correcting consciousness are quite difficult to draw. How is the heart? How is it to be aware? How is it called refining? How is it called repair?
6
If becoming an immortal is delusional, we can also say that becoming a Buddha is delusional. If resting on deep mountains and islands is a delusional flow, we can also say that the Pure Land of the West in the afterlife is a delusional flow. Everyone is the same delusion, please don't open your mouth!
7
The logic that the immortals live on the island is not correct, otherwise modern transportation is developed and the population is large, and there will always be times when the immortals are located.
8
Is it true that entering Nirvana and entering the Pure Land is free from reincarnation? There is no reincarnation unless the universe is completely destroyed. However, at that time, both immortals and Buddhas were also destroyed.
I think these views are refuted to be exquisite!
How is it possible that it has not been discovered by the world so far? (Infographic)
Let me tell you a little bit about my personal opinion: the Lengyan Sutra is most likely a forgery! There is a verse in the Lengyan Sutra that says that there are "seven pleasures of indulgence", which are: hell, hungry ghosts, animals, people, gods, heavenly paths, and the seven paths of shura, which are the seven reincarnations! However, the "Ahan Sutra" of Shakyamuni's thought, which can be represented most orthodoxly: the "Miscellaneous Ahan Sutra" says: "In the great thousand worlds, the five paths are interesting", and the "Long Ahan Sutra" has: "The five paths of travel" clouds and clouds. It can be seen that the six paths are already far-fetched, and the seven paths are falsehoods. The reason why it became the Seven Paths was that the author added the Immortal Dao in order to demean the "Immortals". A Buddhist, in order to demean the Taoist "immortals", dared to go against the Buddha's will and tamper with the scriptures, and this author can also be regarded as a blood book.
There is also the Lengyan Sutra that says: "All changes in time are due to the invention of the four great harmonies", the four great ones are earth, water, fire, and wind. And the "Zhong'a Han Sutra" has clouds: "I have the earth realm, the water realm, the fire realm, the wind realm, the void realm, and the consciousness realm" The clouds and clouds are the four or six? The Lengyan Sutra says that reciting the Lengyan Mantra can make the "felonies" such as "five rebellious and endless felonies", "four abandonments and eight abandonments", all of which are eliminated, let alone any harm! And these so-called "felonies" in the Law are invincible and unchangeable, regardless of the divine power or even the power of the Buddha. Here again in self-aggrandizement, can you recite this mantra, and you can go and create the five felonies of killing your father and killing your mother and have this mantra to dissolve for you!
There are many more falsehoods that are left to the Buddhists to discover for themselves. Most of its contents may have been usurped by native Chinese Buddhists, who knew a little about Xiandao and belonged to half a bottle, that is, they wanted to suppress Taoism and did not have much ability. He only knew that those who had proved the "Immortal Dao" of Chinese Taoism could live for tens of millions of years, but he did not know that those who lived for tens of millions of years were the yang gods who had achieved success, or the "form" that had been vaporized by success. For the cultivation method of immortals and the names of immortals, there are seven tricks and six tricks----- and one knows nothing. There are five kinds of immortals in the Dan Dao classic Zhong Lu's Ecclesiastes: "There are five kinds of immortals, and there are ghosts, immortals, earth immortals, immortals, and heavenly immortals. Moreover, the Zhong Lü Ecclesiastes also explain how the five immortals can be attained, such as: "Lü Yue: 'How do the earth immortals start?'" Zhong Yue: "The principle of the rise and fall of heaven and earth is taken from the number of the sun and the moon." Use the year and month in the body, and use the moment in the day. First of all, we must recognize the dragon and tiger, and the second must be matched. Identify the turbidity of the water source, and divide the climate into morning and evening. Harvest the True One, Cha Er Yi, Rank Three Talents, Divide the Four Elephants, Don't Have Five Fortunes, Fix the Six Qi, Gather the Seven Treasures, Sequence Bagua, and Travel the Nine Continents. The five elements are reversed, and the qi is transmitted to the mother and the liquid line couple is also. Mita repeatedly burned into elixir, forever suppressed Shimoda, refined the form of the world and obtained immortality, in order to be a land god, so it is known as a land immortal. It can be seen that what the "Leng Yan Jing" says is very different from this, so Mr. Chen Xiaoning said that the ten immortals of the "Leng Yan" are the works of laymen, and there is no mistake in it.
Taking a step back, perhaps the ten kinds of immortals mentioned in the "Lengyan" refer to the ancient Indian cultivators, but they borrowed the word "immortal" when translating. But does the Indian senno Shou Chitose? The "immortals" of the Kapilava kingdom in Central India, the "Ahuta Immortals", with the Brahman name "asita", possess five kinds of divine powers. When Shakyamuni was born, the immortal took possession of him and prophesied that he would attain enlightenment and become a Buddha. Then he burst into tears, saying that he would die before Shakyamuni attained enlightenment and that he would not be able to listen to the Dhamma (contained in the Collected Sutras of the Buddha). It is difficult for the Ancient Immortals of India to extend their life span for decades, so how can they live for tens of millions of years?
Then the scripture says: Rest on the deep mountains, or the great islands, the clouds. If these kinds of cultivation methods can really prolong life expectancy to tens of millions of years, but these kinds of cultivation methods will definitely cause the situation of dragging the flesh in the world, because the usurper of the "Lengyan" does not know that there is also a section of the Immortal Path of refining the Void Harmony Path, the achievement of the Yang God, and the birth of the body outside the body, this section is a process of refining the ordinary shell, and the Yang God forms the outer body into a different dimension. In this way, in the end, it is either the dissolution of the shell, or the vaporization of the flesh, or the achievement of the Yang God, so that "the gathering becomes the form, and the dispersion becomes the qi". Reach the ultimate realm of "form and god, and harmony with the Tao". If it is true as the law of "Leng Yan" says, it is inevitable to drag a corpse to live for tens of millions of years, even if it lives in a deep mountain or a large island, how can it not be discovered by the world so far? Mr. Chen said: "Nowadays, the global transportation is extremely convenient. If there were many immortals dragging dead bodies between the mountains and islands, they would have been photographed by the explorers and spread around the world. Why is it that apart from the animals of the beasts, the apes, the orangutans, and the baboons, who are not like humans, and the beasts are not like the animals of the beasts, not a single immortal of ten thousand years of age appears? ”。 Therefore, from the perspective of theoretical logic, this passage does not make sense! So this passage is absurd to say.
Buddhists have always disparaged monks as "ghouls" or those influenced by the logic of this verse, and like the author of the verses, they do not understand the depth of the "divine form." Why don't they think for themselves, how can the corpses not be discovered? These "Buddhist disciples" are both laymen and self-righteous towards Taoism.
The delusional man speaks in vain, and also says that the immortal is delusional. As Mr. Chen Xiaoning said, a group of people who do not want to rely on their own strength to practice empirical evidence, but delusionally that there is a paradise world in the West, delusional thinking that amitabha Buddha will come to pick me up after death, and vainly thinking of going to the Pure Land of Rebirth to avoid reincarnation, this is the true delusion. Taoist immortalism is truly put into practice, self-reliant, not trying to shortcuts, not vainly seeking introduction, and there are various reactions and changes of the body as evidence, which is an objective existence that can be called materialism! However, Buddhism's unsubstantiated doctrines of delusion, idealism, the so-called Pure Land after death, and the other shore are enshrined as truth. alack!!!
Perhaps it is this simple and easy method of being able to pass on the so-called "Pure Land" without putting into true practice and practicing, and moving one's mouth, which caters to most of the inert masses in the world, and is the reason why the disciples of the Other Sect have developed so much?
