It's a film based on a true story that exposes the corruption of the South Korean judicial system at the time, and it may not be possible to release such a movie in China.
The story is based on the "crossbow wounding incident" in South Korea in 2007, when a university professor was stopped from firing in 2005 for pointing out a wrong question in the examination paper, for which he filed a lawsuit to restore his position and reputation, but repeatedly failed, and then shot the chief magistrate with a crossbow and was sentenced to 4 years in prison.
The incident was known at the time as a "judicial terrorist attack", but was later exposed. In the film, the male protagonist, Professor Jin, is convicted of attempted murder, and there are many doubts throughout the trial process
For example, the victim's testimony has been changing, one will say that the bow and arrow hit his stomach and bounce out, the other will say that the arrow was pulled out; and the victim's outer and underwear have blood, but the middle clothes have not left blood. The presiding judge has been avoiding talking about these issues, and has simply hammered the anger of the audience at the scene.
The scene also invited archery experts to explain that if the bow and arrow hit the human body, it will leave a wound of 15 centimeters, but the certificate presented by the hospital shows that the victim's wound is only 2 centimeters.
It even bought off television stations that were not allowed to broadcast the relevant events.
In the end, Professor Kim accepted the sentence and was released from prison after 4 years of service.
From the perspective of the whole film, the film basically restores the authenticity of the story, and does not give the audience a "surprise" ending, the case is actually very simple, and there is no suspense, but on the road to rights protection, it is extremely difficult.
Professor Jin has always insisted on his belief, whether it is the dismissal of the first "examination paper incident" or the second time he was framed for killing the chief judge, in the face of unfair authority, he has tried his best to prove his innocence, just like an arrow, piercing the country's judicial rights, the film can be released in fact, it also shows the progress of contemporary society.
Although this is not a good movie, it must be a good movie, and it won the 2012 Korean Film Blue Dragon Award, interested friends can go to see it.
