Today, I will take the creation of "Blue Bird" as an example, teach you to use two tricks, learn to make the truth come alive, and let the reader feel more strongly about the theme you want to express.
These two tricks are: conceptual metaphor and contrast.
One
Let's start with conceptual metaphors.
In the creation of "Blue Bird", a lot of conceptual metaphors are used. Metaphor is a very clever writing technique, which can make abstract concepts and truths concrete, and more vividly let people understand the meaning.
For example, the memory state mentioned in this section is to visualize such an abstract concept of memory as a kingdom. Everyone's memory kingdom belongs to themselves. So, when it came time to go to the Memory Kingdom, Xian Gu and Hikari let the two brothers and sisters go on their own.
There, the brothers and sisters met their deceased relatives: grandparents and siblings, who were exactly the same as they were before they were, not getting old, not growing up, not getting sick, just like we remember. And the happiest thing for them is to look forward to the "visit" of their loved ones, that is, to miss and pray, which are the happy treasures that their loved ones have left in our memories.
The bird of the memory country is a happy bird here, but out of the memory country, in reality, it will become a black bird.
This metaphor is telling us:
No matter how beautiful the memory is, it cannot replace reality.
Two
For example, the next stop that the two brothers and sisters enter, the Palace of Darkness, is also the same metaphorical use.
What can represent darkness?
The author embodies them into doors: the door of ghosts, the door of the sick, the door of war, the door of darkness and terror, the door of silence, the door of the elves in the night, the door of the garden in the night.
Among them, ghosts represent death, disease represents disease, and war represents killing between people. These are all concerns.
There is also darkness and terror, although it looks terrible, but in fact they are not terrible. In the text, Mrs. Night says this:
"They've become timid as rats. Only those who are big are not afraid of people. ”
Silence is also a member of the House of Darkness, because it represents bottomless loneliness. When Titil said:
"I've never seen them, my hands are frozen..."
Mrs. Night responded to her this way:
"If you look at it again just now, it will be broken..."
The metaphor here is to say that a long silence can make people fall into indifference, and this kind of spiritual harm is extremely terrible.
So, isn't there something beautiful in the Dark Kingdom?
The answer, of course, is no. The Gate of the Elves in the Night and the Gate of the Garden in the Night are all beautiful metaphors in the text.
In the gate of the elves in the night, there are stars and moonlights, nightingales singing, fireflies and crystal dewdrops, all of which are the beauty of darkness.
In the garden gate under the night light, there is a beautiful scene like a dream, countless blue birds flying in the garden, and the moonlight and gemstones shine together.
In this garden, the brothers and sisters also found the blue birds, but once they left the dream garden, the blue birds were all dead.
This is actually the same as the above metaphor of remembering the change of color of the national blue bird. They are all the happiness imagined in people's minds, not real.
Although, the happiness in the memory and the dream cannot survive in reality. However, having happiness in one's heart can make people live in peace and hope. As the Light says:
"Don't cry, my boy, you didn't catch the one that could live in the sun. He flew elsewhere, and we'll find it. ”
Because happiness does not need to be found everywhere, happiness is all around us.

In addition to metaphors, the use of contrast is also prominent in the creation of BlueBird.
"All mothers who love their children are rich, not poor, ugly, not old... Their love is always the most beautiful joy. When they look sad, they just have to get a kiss from the child, or a kiss to the child, and all their tears turn into stars in the depths of their eyes..."
It is through contrast that the author makes us deeply feel the infinite joy brought by true happiness.
Contrast, commonly used in literary creation, through the comparison and comparison of two relative things, the image will be clearer and the feeling will be more intense.
For example, in describing the Garden of Happiness, the author successfully uses contrasting techniques.
The author first brought eleven or two of the fattest happiness to the scene. There is the happiness of the rich, the happiness of the industrial combination, the happiness of vanity satisfaction, the happiness of not thirst and drinking, the happiness of not being hungry and eating, the happiness of knowing nothing, the happiness of not knowing anything, the happiness of doing nothing, the happiness of not sleeping, the happiness of laughter.
They said:
"We were always busy, doing nothing, we didn't even have a minute to catch our breath. You have to eat, you have to drink, you have to sleep all day, these things are too laborious. ”
They feel that all they have to do in the world is to eat, drink, and have fun, and they should live like this, and they think that's happiness.
However, when Titil turned the magic drill, these happinesses all appeared in their original form, one by one, like deflated leather balls, watching them go down, their naked bodies ugly and dry, a pitiful look, and finally, they fled to the cave of pain.
Then, the author let the happiness brought by the family happiness leader play. There are physical health and happiness, fresh air happiness, loving parent happiness, blue sky happiness, forest happiness, happiness when the sun comes out, spring happiness, sunset happiness, rain happiness and so on. These are the real happiness.
Finally, in order to strengthen the feelings, the author also invited infinite joy to play. There is justice joy, goodness joy, work completion joy, thought joy, understanding joy, love joy, purest joy, unparalleled motherly love joy.
When two brothers and sisters embrace their mother and speak those affectionate words, what reader can feel the happiness and joy in it without being moved by this?
It is this step-by-step comparison that allows us to more truly distinguish the truth and falsehood of happiness and understand the source of joy.
