According to the China Times News Network reported on August 26, recently, a 4-month-old macaque monkey born in Taiwan's Yushan Park was hit by a tourist's car on the side of the road, and the mother monkey held the dead baby monkey unwilling to give up. After that, he foraged or rested in the mountains, holding the young monkey all the time, and even helping him lick and wipe his body to clean.
It is understood that the monkey group in the Yushan Tataga area has long relied on tourists to feed and feed, and at the time of the incident, the young monkeys were staying on the side of the road, and the tourists did not pay attention to the car and crashed into it, causing their lives.
According to the Yushan Park Management Office, from August 21 to 25, female monkeys can be seen holding small monkeys to feed in the mountains. The low temperature in the mountainous area makes the decomposition rate of the baby monkey carcass slower, but there will still be decomposing liquid flowing out of the corner of the mouth, and the mother monkey will not only clean her body, but also lick the rotting liquid at the corner of the mouth.
The habit of the Taiwanese macaque is that the mother monkey will take good care of the newborn baby monkeys, which is no different from others. The staff urged tourists to respect the local ecology and not to approach the mother monkey holding the body of the young monkey if they encountered it, so as not to cause a conflict.
